Escape by Belle Ami is a suspenseful, action packed book with some romance. This book is not a typical romance story; there are secrets, betrayal and a kidnapping. Then a secret under cover agent gets thrown in which brings a whole lot of action and mystery.

Layla Wallace is an ordinary student working on her degree. Her boyfriend takes her on a trip to Dubai and that is where everything changes. Layla and her boyfriend are kidnapped; Layla does not know why and is scared. They are taken from Dubai and transferred to Tehran in Iran. Layla’s only hope of escape is a secret agent whose name is Cyrus. Cyrus knows he has to save the girl at all costs; he has to get her out of Iran and in a hurry. Will Cyrus risk everything for a girl he does not know? Will Layla trust Cyrus? Will they make it out alive?

Escape has so much energy and suspense. There is not too much romance either, there is just enough to help the story move along. The romance factor is not overpowering or overly there. Abbreviations were explained although there were a lot making it hard to keep track. Another thing I did not like was the foul language; it is ok once in a while but not every other sentence. I realize this is a romance book, so that kind of language is used but to me it is not necessary. I did not want it to end and was upset with the way it did. However, this is part one of a series and I can not wait to read part two. I would recommend readers who like these types of books to read it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book itself is really well written and it flows effortlessly to the next chapter. Layla and Cyrus as characters put a new spin on the way romance is suppose to go. The way the characters grew and changed through the book was relatable. There were no grammatical errors in this book.

This book would attract readers who like adventure and suspenseful books. Also readers who like romance and spy books. Even readers who do not like romance may like this book because there is not an overwhelming use of it. Overall this book is well written, has a good story, and grabs the reader’s attention.
