Do you believe in reincarnation? Ever get that sense of de ja vu or that feeling of I know this person? If you are not afraid to dive into the past…... This amazing historical love story is for you. In modern day Chicago, the past lives of two people creep up on them with a lifesaving act. A novel of mystery, intrigue and definitely mind boggling. If you are a historian, psychiatrist, romantic or just a lover of the beyond, this book of reincarnation and past lives is a definite must read for you. This is the story of a young woman, Amanda performing a very selfless act when saving the life of Officer Mark Callahan, one of Chicago’s finest. With just a second of hesitation she pulls him out of the way from a collapsing building, not knowing that she pulled him straight into her life and out of their lives from yesterday.

During her heroic act Amanda hurts her head, leading Mark to take her to a little antique store on the curb. Amanda always had a love for all things old and upon waking in hospital, finds herself remembering angel bells. These are the bells that will lead her on a journey back to yesterday and help her find her way through today. With Amanda believing that everyone she loves always die around her, it is Mark’s solemn duty to convince her otherwise and pull her back from the tragedies of yesterday into the possibilities of today. This story will lead you on a path of history, the amazing abilities of the human brain and how to unlock the secrets of your soul… It brings together two people whose souls are bound to one another through time. It is a love story that plays out through time with the yesterdays and tomorrows intertwined.

I liked this book, because it transports you back to what was and brings you right back to what is. It makes you live history and not just remember it. It has so many details about the early nineteen hundreds and helps you experience life through the eyes of a little girl. The way the story starts out with action gets you deadlocked into the intrigue of what will happen next. I really liked the ending where Amanda gets to meet one of Magdalene’s descendants and Mark also completes his journey through yesterday with the diary of Rose. Also the fact that it is Mark that completes the story in the end was very unexpected since he could not travel and learn all the things as Amanda did through the doors of yesterday. He is the one that completes their story giving Amanda hope for the future and banishing her fears of all love lost, thus eliminating her “curse”.

I rate this book 3 out of 4, it is very well written, the story starts off with a bang, flows very easily between the time lines and ends with a satisfying clarity. The writing is done professionally and I did not come across any mistakes, which leaves me to conclude that the book has been professionally edited. The book Yesterday, will appeal to many different audiences; such as the youth, historians, researchers, adventurers, those with a flair for the other worldly and supernatural. I would definitely say this will be a good read for people struggling with their past and those that feel life is against them in the sense of being loved and loving others. It can help you look at your life different and will definitely make you wonder about your own yesterday and how things played out. It gives hope of a better tomorrow no matter what struggles you face today. It also teaches us that although history repeats itself, the little things we do can alter the course of your life. It is very inspirational and out of the ordinary, but as I previously mentioned, this book can appeal to many and all, since it covers a bit of interests.

The descriptive way of the writing makes it easy read and live in the moment of what is transpiring on the pages and the author’s notes at the end really gets you the history described in the book and I am definitely making that pudding. Also it gives an authenticity to the story to know that the events described actually took place. It is not only a story of time, love and adventure, but also how nothing ever dies. History is not always beautiful, but we have to accept what happened and learn from it. This story shows the bad and the good, we all want to live the best lives we can and leave something behind for the generations to follow so they can learn from us and hopefully not make the same mistakes and not be scared to redesign and redefine themselves.
