Escape, by Belle Ami, is a romantic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Cyrus Hussani is a top ranking officer of Oghab2, with authority over Iran’s nuclear programs. He is also a deep-cover agent working for Mossad. Harvard student, and daughter of a Jewish mother, Layla Wallace is on vacation in Dubai with her wealthy Saudi boyfriend, when they are kidnapped by Iraqi terrorists and held for ransom in Tehran. Unbeknownst to the terrorists, she is the perfect hostage to advance their nuclear program, since her father is a renowned nuclear physicist who, before his wife’s death, had been working on a nuclear invention that was virtually impossible to detect, something Iran would love to get their hands on.
Realizing Iran could use Layla as blackmail to force her father to work for the Iranians, Mossad issues Cyrus a new assignment that will blow his carefully constructed cover as he needs to extradite Layla from Iran to Israel, and if failing to do that, kill her. Cyrus and Layla practically sizzle with desire for each other, making it difficult to stay ahead of the Iranian government, while fighting their attraction. It seems impossible that Cyrus and Layla will make it out of Iran alive.
When I started to read this story, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and I could not put the book down until I finished it. It is fast paced, and action packed, and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. It was also realistic enough that I wasn’t distracted by feeling that it could never happen in real life. I fully enjoyed reading about the blossoming love between Cyrus and Layla despite the overwhelming odds against them.
I was afraid the book would dig too deeply into the nuclear program, and nuclear technology and be difficult to understand, but Ms. Ami delved into the nuclear world just enough to give the reader a good understanding of the top secret Iranian nuclear program and a sense of the seriousness of what was taking place in the book. She also described the conflicts between Israel, Iran, and the Western world in a way that you could feel the distrust and dislike between them.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Escape and I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about the book. The editing was excellent; there were no issues with grammar, spelling, typos or weird wording. I rate this story 4 out of 4 stars. This story would appeal to readers who enjoy a good thrilling romance. If you like romance and watching characters overcome insurmountable odds, you will enjoy Escape. I can’t wait to read more books by Belle Ami.
