Ever After is a fictional romance novel written by H.M Irwing. The novel was published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform on 1st September 2017. The book is a work of fiction with the following themes, love, motherhood, family, ambition, courage, isolation, loss, lust, growing up and reunion.
Cindy Marshall is an endearing protagonist born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her life takes a different turn when her mother is diagnosed with cancer and eventually dies and she gets abandoned by her father. She loses faith in love, marriage and the ‘happy ever after’ belief. Trying to survive on her own without the help of her father after school, she suffers searching for jobs without getting any positive result. A broke Cindy eventually manages to get a job in an elite nightclub owned by the heir to the Italian Mafia King, Julian St. John, a self-made billionaire. It is love at first sight for Julian upon rescuing Cindy Marshall from a group of drunks trying to hurt her. Julian is in search of a bride, and Cindy no longer believes in love or marriage. Julian embarks on a witty task to get the bride of his choice.
The author portrayed accurately the life of many unemployed educated graduates who go through hell in search of job, the way finding a job could be so difficult because of employers’ regular demand for post-graduation relevant work experience. The author also showed the truth about marriages in the society, the frequency of divorces. I agree with the author on the need for women to be able to stand up for their interest in marriages. I could understand how Michael Marshall felt when he eventually found Fleur Nicklaus, a woman who appreciated his efforts by accepting to spend his money unlike his first wife, Melissa Marshall who was so reluctant to spend her husband’s money out of what she called love for him. Every man loves it when the woman he loves spends his money to ensure she is faring well, it makes him feel like his efforts are well appreciated. The author also showed a true image of how some people act when suffering from terminal diseases by avoiding their loved ones watching them die.
The author also portrayed a true picture of the life of famous and influential individuals, the way they must constantly have security around them and their families, how they cannot live freely like normal people any longer and how every detail about their lives gets to the public via the press as they make the best news headlines; they have to take extra efforts to ensure any privacy they truly desire. The author showed the truth most country leaders try hiding of how they need top international mafias to do certain illegal deals that they cannot afford to do by themselves or by their national military arms.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The author really did an excellence work, the novel, Ever After, is so real, very practical, it shows exactly the truth of the kind of world we live in. I did not feel as if I was reading a work of fiction because it looked so real. The author’s ability to make a fiction look so real is excellent. It is an interesting and educative piece of literature. It would definitely appeal to a lot of readers. It would appeal to lovers of love and romance novels. It would also appeal to readers who love fictions that appear true to life. It would appeal to readers that love books that involve travels across nations. Even lovers of thrillers, adventures, mysteries and crime novels would find this piece worth reading.
