ESCAPE, by Belle Ami, is a romantic thriller novel involving Cyrus Hassani and Layla as the main characters.

Layla, a Harvard doctoral student pursuing an advanced degree in art history, finds herself in a terrific situation after being abducted while vacationing in Dubai with Zamir, her Boyfriend. Her father, Dr. Aleck Wallace was against Layla's visit to Dubai.

Individually, she was worried that Zamir's parents could not like her being Jewish. Her worries raises when she is kidnapped together with the Saudi boy in their hotel. They are taken to Tehran in Iran, where they are locked in separately. Evin prison situations are great threat to her life. She experiences a terrible encounter with Mohammad, a guard in that prison.

With the help of the Prime Minister of Israel, a former friend and a roommate of Aleck at Harvard, Cyrus is sent to neutralise the situation at Evin by rescuing her. Due to harsh experience Layla faces, she finds it difficult to trust Cyrus. This causes them to open up revealing their true intentions towards each other. Layla terms Cyrus as a superhero due to how he rescues her. Aleck's work at MIT as a nuclear physicist, would make Layla a perfect blackmail target of the Iranian. Cyrus, assistant Deputy director of Oghab2, knows well what his boss would do to her if he realises who she was. Cyrus is a mole for Israel, highly trained to survive at dangerous situations. He was ordered by MOIS, either to get her out of Iran or Kill her.

Both Layla and Cyrus had developed secret admiration triggered by true feelings of love developing in them. This could make him use second option of order only at death situation. Layla always wondered if their feelings could last for ever if they managed to escape. After escape, Cyrus is taken for special medication and couldn't meet with her at any time. With no yields, she tries to meet her lover and tell her about all her feelings and situation. A year later, she gives birth to Cerise. At the age of three months her mother, Layla, coincidentally meets Cyrus. Later he proposed and she accepted. Would they live together if he realises Layla is a woman not a girl he knew? It's time to find out.

Setting of the novel is well developed. I could connect with both 'Adam' and 'Eve' hence felt all they shared together. The novel is very interesting. Continuously, I read trying to figure out what was to happen next. The novel has vivid description of adult scenes, which created clear visual graphics in my mind. I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the novel only for mature audiences.
