The Bonding is a science fiction romance book written by Imogen Keeper involving two people from two different planets. Tam, a warrior from tribe Argentus was forced to heal an alien woman, Nissa, from a deadly disease through awkward circumstances. Through this, a bond was created between them therefore becoming mates. Nissa thought that the bond was just about physical chemistry even though she had mixed feelings about it. It also put her into a dilemma because as the queen designate of Triannon,it was not her own to decide who should be her mate.

On the other hand, Tam's role as the the mate to Nissa was to do everything to make her happy. He offered to help find her family and people and save the ones who were enslaved by the vestige. He also let go of her when she requested to break the bond knowing very well that breaking the bond would cause them so much pain and suffering.

In the end, they both were ready to fight for the bond between them, though differently and without the knowledge of each other's plans. They also realized that bonding was more than just physical chemistry.

This book is suitable for adults as it contains sexual language. It brings out love as a feeling that is stronger than physical attraction. It also shows that love can surpass all rules that hinder two people to be together. However, the rules that can be ignored or altered are the ones that do not pose a threat to the lives of others or cause damage. That is why in the end, Nissa's father did not object to their relationship.

it also shows that unusual situations can have great things in them. Tam did not imagine that he could find himself a mate. A deadly disease and the fact that he was the one on duty at that time made him find one in Nissa.

The author also portrays good leadership skills in Nissa. She had chosen to give up on Tam for the sake of her people and even though she later decided to fight for the love she has for Tam, she was ready to lead them. She also defended the ones who had attacked her and Tam and did not take revenge for their deeds. Rather, she understood that if not for the invasion of the vestige slavers, they would not have ruthless and brutal.

I like the book because there were no errors and the story was also flowing. However, the book was not that exciting to read because most part of it was about Tam and Nissa making love. The author maybe should have gone into details occasionally.

I would rate the book 2 out of 4 stars. This is because it did not appeal to me that much as it has less turn of events. But it is still a good book. Therefore, it would be an honour to read the next book, that is The Breaking. Since I have read a sample of it, I have a feeling that it might be more interesting than the first book. However, I would recommend the readers to read The Bonding before proceeding to the next book even though it is not a continuation of it.
