Apollo’s Raven. A novel that blends history and fantasy elements in an action-packed book. With a taste of Roman and Celtic culture and a romance between these two. personally I don't mind the mentions of sexual assault and gore. Congrats.

I agree, I read the preview and enjoyed the little taste of the book that I got. The supernatural elements and the differences in cultures were very interesting. This review makes me want to purchase the book!

Apollo's Raven doesn't appeal to me because I'm not a fan of historical fiction, but your detailed review piqued my interest. I studied Roman and Greek mythology in high school, but not Celtic culture so now I want to see how the author built the world around these. Maybe I'll even enjoy reading about Catrin and Marcellus' relationship.

Apollo's Raven seems like a novel that has a blend of fantasy and history. The story revolves around Catrin, a Celtic tribe and a Roman nobleman. The story includes magical powers and use of a raven as a helper. I guess this is an interesting book to read. The reviewer rated it 4 out of 4 stars.

Apollo's Raven has drawn many fans over the past few months as Linnea Tanner wonderfully melds historical setting, fantasy, myths, adventure, a bloody power struggle and a war between the Roman empire and ancient Britannia. Readers interested in ancient history, who are at the same time fans of fantasy and epic adventures will have fun checking out how Tanner uses history as a platform for this amazing myth.

Encountering this book for the first time in early September here at OnlineBookClub.org, I wrote: "Ancient history has always fascinated me and such time is perfect for weaving stories out of myths, mystery, magic, mysticism and legendary people. Catrin, endowed with magical abilities that include seeing through a raven's eyes, must help protect the kingdom of her father, King Amren, from the aggression of the Romans in connivance with Catrin's banished half-brother Marrock. But she eventually falls in love with Marcellius, son of a Roman senator. ... In a few hundred pages, we would know the choices to be made by Catrin and Marcellius. I'm rooting for Catrin to emerge as a true leader."

It's great to learn from lavellan's review that through Catrin and Marcellus' relations, readers get to see how strong and progressive women of Celtic culture are against the patriarchal Romans. But life happens and Catrin, more than anybody in this book, faces the toughest test: love or duty. Will Catrin emerge as a true leader in Tanner's epic?

This is a wonderful review. The book has been adequately described. I have not read the book but I would love to read it especially given how well-researched it is. I hope its sequels will be more interesting as well.

Another great book I have already discussed about. The way Tanner portrays Roman and Celtic mythology and culture reflects a profound historical knowledge and a strongly consistent and intriguing plot. Congrats on BOTD!

I must admit I have been quite lazy to start reading this book but I will now. Being the first in the series, it has been praised by several reviewers. It looks like a great Roman historical fiction. Thanks for your great review.

I have read several reviews of this book and have an idea about the theme, still I loved reading yours. It let me know more about the plot. The way the author used the differences between Roman and Celtic culture for advancing the storyline was great. Thanks for the review.

Apollo's Raven sounds like a great book. I would really love to read it to find out if Catrin falling in love with Marcellus affected what she was destined for. Great review!

I enjoyed reading this novel on the Celtics and Roman way of life. The interaction of the two cultures as exemplified by the romantic relationship if Catrin and Marcellus was interesting. I look forward to reading the sequels. Thanks for a wonderful review.
