I would also add that this is not a mean feat to achieve especially at that age. There are many projects that people do in their younger years. However, climbing mountains for a man of the age of 44 is not a joke.

This calls for inner strength and motivation. I read the sample and Amazon description of the same. I was still battling in my mind whether to read and review this book. Well, as for me, time didn't wait for me.

Now that you have already reviewed it. I would add it to my shelf and read it at a future date.

I'm glad that you found this to be a worthwhile read. Mountaineering is definitely something I'm not used to, so I can only imagine how the author felt struggling through life-threatening avalanches, altitude sickness, or potential cannibalism! It's always nice to have technical terms broken down and it's great to hear that you were moved by the author's thoughts and spiritual reflection in his genuine voice. Too bad about the repetition and that the first couple of chapters could be confusing or boring. However, I'm glad that the writing picks up and that the overall book was exciting. Glad you enjoyed this one so much! Thanks for sharing!

I have a deathly fear of heights so there will be no scaling of mountains for me in my future, but strangely enough, I do love reading about the true stories of high-climbing adventure and perseverance from real mountaineers! I also like that the author splits his time between talking about his climbs and the spiritual inspiration behind them. Together, these two aspects make this book sound like a motivational read!

This sounds like an interesting read. I like that it’s his personal story about adventures that I’ve only dreamed of going on. It’s also interesting how people have a “spiritual” experience when going on these adventures.

Biased on this review, the book sounds like a very good read. I found myself excited to get the book and start reading. It seems like it would be a very inspirational book and intriguing to see how someone so lost in life decides to put his mind and body through the extreme to find meaning and purpose in his day to day life. I plan on adding this one to my shelf and I am looking forward to starting it!

I think this book is a very adventurous and interesting one, and I would like to read it. From this memoir one could see that there is no age limit to making an impact in life, that is, you are neither too old or too young to conquer your world. It is infact a guide to anyone who wants to win and conquer depression and a lesson to anyone who is about given up on life.
On the whole it is an inspiring book.

By reading the title I hope its not going to dissapoint as the story goes on,somebody might think just because at the moment you are not able or struggling a lot but the end you gonna find joy and relief when you break out of your shelf,as somebody said what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, this is better for all people.

Fighting demons? Don't we all have to do that at a crucial moment in our lives? I'm glad the author achieved his objective to conquer the summit, and now can share his experience and knowledge with others. I've always believed we can learn from others, be it their mistakes or virtues.

Am not that old but i don't think i can do all that David Mauro did. I think it shows bravery and determination to fight uncertainty and whatever demons he was battling with at that time. Definitely a must read inspirational/Adventure book. Good review.

I love outdoors I have not done any activity that is equivalent to mountain climbing except for hiking. Recently I considered what would happen in my country if we experienced a tsunami of 96 plus feet the skill of mountain climbing would certainly be a valuable asset. I look forward to reading this text, thanks for a great review,

In a world where most people are struggling to look for their purpose in life, The Altitude Journals provides a glimpse of how that feels. I have read a sample of the book as it was todays BOTD, and it is written by a person determined to share his experiences. "Lamenting the short-lived nature of athletic careers, I retired from ax throwing the same day I had taken it up". I really laughed hard during this part and other parts. The book is humorous yet touching amd gentle and I will definitely add it to my bookshelves
But the path I’ve chosen has always been the right one, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. :)
