This book seems like it is based on the evergreen story of special "chosen one" protagonist being thrust into a new and unfamiliar world, but this take seems completely unique! It sounds absolutely wonderful, and I like that this book casually breaks stereotypes without making a big deal about it, or without making it the main point of the book. This sounds like a good book about the gods, but having read the Percy Jackson series, I think I can't help but compare the two. Since both books borders on Greek Mythology and kinda sounds the same, I can't promise not to compare. I think I'll have to pass, though your review was fun to read. I can feel the giddiness in you Really is wonderful to read things that you like. Glad you enjoyed it!

I was constantly reminded of Divergent and Harry Potter in certain areas of the book. So if you like books like Divergent, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games or a fantasy fiction with a dash of romance, then this one might be right up your alley.

Funny you should mention that because I was thinking about Percy Jackson and the Hunger Games as I read your review. Might I suggest that it also sounds like the Hunger Games version of the tasks of Heracles? Either way, it's a nice twist on a familiar genre.

Now, I have very few complains from this book -- why does the protagonist have to be special every time? Why was she the only one with both ancestors as Gods?

Every single time. It's exasperating. There are fixed criteria in what is considered 'the YA Protagonist.'
It goes something like;
- Breathtakingly beautiful. (...and most likely unaware of this.)
- Unassuming
- Destiny. ('Twas foretold she would be the most powerful whatever that lived.)
- As above, ridiculously powerful.
- Surpasses the master, and everyone else, after some (comparatively minuscule) training.
- And they might even throw a love triangle into the mix!

Though, the book does sound great. It even motivated you to look into Greek Mythology. Only the best books inspire us to go further.

This kind of reminds me of Hunger Games: Mythology Edition. It sounds like a really fascinating read, and I'm glad it's well-written as well. It's nice when the book strikes the perfect balance of being well-detailed without being a slow read. Great review!

I haven't heard about the Mythology edition but it does sound interesting! Yes, I agree, I find it very difficult to read slow paced books so it's definitely a plus for me! Thank you for your comment and sharing your views!

I've never tried a Greek Mythology and I find the story interesting. Unfortunately, some traits featured in the book discourage me from considering the book.

I feel like "the chosen one" concept has become the cliché of the fantasy genre. But, this book does go a step beyond that and I appreciate it for that. Thank you for the appreciation and feedback!

Honestly, I haven't read Percy Jackson yet (I plan on doing so, soon) but I can see how you wouldn't be able to resist comparing the two seeing the similarities in the plot! Thank you for reading my review and the wonderful comment!

Is it the Mythology edition you are talking about? Because I think even @unamilagra mentioned it. I think I should definitely add that to my ever growing TBR list and hope I'll get around to it some day. Anyway, thanks for the comment and reading my review!
