danielleamy wrote: 27 May 2019, 12:13 It must be interesting to read about how a child grows up being involved in a family of violence. For most , I assume they would go the same way as their family. But this sounds like John managed to turn his life around! I would not have considered reading this before reading your great review, so thanks!
I hope you get the chance to read it - it is a good story. Thanks for stopping by!

I've just discovered that I actually really enjoy memoirs, so I might need to check this one out. It sounds rather intense!

This looks like a really encouraging book. The achivements are comendable given the background. Thanks for the review

Sounds like this book can be used as a motivation. Given the circumstances, his achivements were comendable.

Rarely does a review get me excited to read a book, but yours did! I am not into the mafia, but I am into true crime, biographies and people not playing the victim. Which is a big pet peeve for me. I am glad he doesn’t make excuses for anything and cannot wait to read this book. Thanks for an absolutely wonderful review that I will be glad to share.

Quite inspirational story of John Costello as he becomes successful in business and life, despite being raised in a life of violence, mob connections, and personal abuse. Thanks for quite informative review.

When you mentioned that the characters are flawed yet they don't make excuses for such actions, that reeled me in to read more of this. I've come across this book on the BOTD once, and I thought it would be a good read. Thanks for such a glowing review of the book. :tiphat:

This is an emotional read, the hardships that John goes through seem unbearable. The good thing is that ge came out on top despite that. Thanks for a wonderful review.
