Re: Review of "Dumb" Orphans

Actually, the title of the book attracted me, but when I read the story, it hurt me that the writer chose this title. The inability of orphaned children to go to school and describing them as Dump was wrong. We hope to choose terms that do not belittle children's abilities. I felt sad and angry because of the prejudice the heroes of the story go through in society and their aspiration to live a better life than they were.

This is nice. Thanks for mentioning what familiar books each part of this series reminded you of. It makes it easier to decide whether I want to read it, or not.

While the title "Dumb" Orphans might be controversial, the story effectively captures the resilience and cleverness of young orphans overcoming adversity. Despite some timeline inconsistencies, the book’s cultural insights and moral lessons make it a valuable YA read with strong educational potential.

I appreciate your comments and got a chuckle out of your typo (dump instead of dumb.) :tiphat:

This is an interesting review, and while I understand why one could be offended by the word "dumb" the truth is, we all have called someone dumb or something similar because we don't understand the privileges we've had in our lives (like going to school, not struggling in class, having someone to help us do homework). I think the word choice might upset more than one person, but I also think that the book proves that those we consider dumb are usually very clever.
