It looks like a nostalgic, sorrowful historical fiction. I think I will skip the book for now as I am not a huge fan of historical fiction. Thank you for you detailed review!

My grandmothers and grandfathers lived through the GreatDepression and even though I have never experienced an event of that magnitude, I feel like I somewhat understand because of the stories I have been told. Thanks!

I think the storyline is engaging. It's close to the reality of life. I would enjoy it more with a happy ending, but a sad one also deserves my attention, I guess. Thank you for your humane review.

I don't think I will pick out this book because I dint really enjoy historical fiction. I prefer real history books and there appears to be alot if sad stories in the book, which I hate. But I loved your review. Your writing style is quite unique, and I haven't seen anything like it here.

I have read a few other historical fiction books that are written within the time frame and backdrop of the dust bowl, and this sounds like an interesting one. The plight of the people impacted by these events is definitely heartbreaking. I am glad to hear that you found this book to be so meaningful and that you enjoyed it despite the shortcomings that you found while reading.

Life can be complex, and as highlighted in your review, the main character, Bethy, faces her own set of challenges. Growing up amid dust storms, economic crises, and droughts. I appreciate the character and the story's plot. It's evident that the author has crafted an experience that will captivate readers. Your review has piqued my interest, and I'm eager to dive into this book.

Your review portrays an emotional read. It sounds like a book to get immersed in while curled up in front of a roaring fire when in the mood to have a bit of a cry over a good book. Thank you for your insight

The front cover of the book is beautiful with two kids, may be they are two kids who represent the story. The system followed or how family evolved is unknown for us, so reading books like this gives insights of their system. Good review

I am not so fond of books with tragedies but do like historical fiction that have a genuine story. I am torn whether to read this book or not. The review is very well written and informative. Thank you for your honest review.

Fantastic review. It is an historical book where climate issues and the female position make us understanding better the living conditions of that period of time.

I do agree with the review that a bit of context regarding the Great Depression and other historical events that occurred in the story's setting would increase a reader's understanding of the ills facing the characters. But that seems to be something small as compared to the pros for reading this book; like the bit about the reader feeling like they are living with the Main Character and learning what she goes through provides great immersion that will add to a reader's reading experience

It is rare to mentioned the struggle of every person when the story is set in a struggling period. Almost everyone is going through something. Also the short paragraphs that the reviewer uses is really helpful. To state a simple point they uses one paragraph. Also the portrayal of Betty and her father. Their resilience is truly remarkable.
