Thank you for your information-filled and insightful review. It is already notable considering that you've written it a long time ago when you were still starting out as a reviewer in our club.

It seems like McDowell is a quirky character and more of a typical "antagonist" instead of a "protagonist" that he should obviously be in the more usual book-related sense of the two words. However, I believe that he is just like the rest of us who, in one way or another, have erred in our lives but found ourselves in a turning point where we get to reflect on our past and determine what we need to do at present for the future. I do hope he eventually gets to maximise his chance at redemption.

Finally, I would like to share an interesting detail that I came across when I was reading this book and I quote, “it’s no good if people seek success and money only for their own satisfaction and self-worth. People content in themselves learn to give selflessly, without concern for personal gain, to learn the joy of being human. How many times a day do we do things for others that are really for our own pleasure and advancement?”. I believe it is something for all of us to think about!
Wow! What a nice review you have written about McDowell. It is hard to imagine how the author coordinated 72 characters, but you mentioned that each chapter was clear. I like that after many years of McDowell being an ambitious, self-centered, and obnoxious man that he changed after his prison term. Maybe he became more humble and was able to learn from others to change his perspectives on life. I like the quote mentioned above. I think I will need to read the book after reading your review!

Thanks for the great review. I too believe that everyone deserves a second chance and it is good to read that Hiram makes the most of his second chance. This looks to be an interesting book. Will add it to my to-read list

I'm sold to the first statement of your review. That the type of question that I keep wondering to this day. I certainly gonna add this to my shelves after I learned that it is such an eye-opening book.

This sounds awesome. The rise and fall of a character is rewarding to see. I look forward to seeing how insightful this book is and the lessons the character learns. Wow 72 characters and the story is interesting and fast paced.

The quotation at the end of the book is a food for thought for everyone who will dare to ask the question raised above. Thanks for the fascinating review of the book. I enjoyed reading it. I am currently reading this book and I hope that I will be able to enjoy it as well.
