I reviewed this book because I know of persons who went through this type of abuse and want to understand their pain and to know the methods they can use to cope with this situation.

This is a great review for Heartaches 2. I read the first book, and I thought the author did a great job covering controversial topics that aren't often written about in fiction romance/erotica. The protagonists in this story certainly did experience a great deal of hardships and betrayals, but they were resilient, which is great to read about. It also showed the love and relationships are not simple and that everybody comes with some kind of baggage.

I can't say this book interests me, but it sounds like a good read for people looking to see others be abused and come out on top.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

It's good that the characters were able to develop beyond what had happened to them. Although like others, I have read reviews that question this as an inspiring tale of surviving and thriving.

Good review. I too have reviewed this book, yet I found too many errors to give it a full rating. I also liked the way gay relationships were played out. The writing is very intelligent and the characters inspiring.

I appreciate your well rounded review. You’ve clearly outlined the story, and it is good to know about the trauma faced by the characters and their drive to overcome it. The sex scenes are frequently expected in this genre, unless it is a religious based romance, so that is not a surprise to me. Thank you for pointing out that element, though. It’s good to know so that I can choose my romances accordingly!

Truthfully, I'm not really a fan of the darker romance and themes. However, I'm glad to see that you enjoyed this book. Its good to know that in times of trauma, the characters were able to find the silver lining.

You did a great review, and your empathy for what both Anna and Rafe had gone through is really evident. I suggest you read the last book as well as it seems you really enjoyed this second installment. I also read this book and the entire series. I'm not as drawn to Anna and Rafe's love story, but the underlying themes explored such as that of rape and drugs really picked my interest.

Thank you for your review of this book - it can be challenging to read and review a book of this genre, and you gave it the respect it deserves.

Thanks for this review! I have never felt compelled to read this book, as the content doesn't sound like something I'd personally enjoy. It's nice that you did, though.

Romance isn't my genre, but this one seems to have some depth to it. I'm not interested, but it sounds well done.
