This is an excellent piece of literary fiction and i loved reading and reviewing this book. This book is free on smarshwords and has an inciteful onlinebookclub review that highlighted the best the book had to offer. I rated the book 3 out of 4 stars. Congrats on being the BOTD.

The themes of guilt, redemption and love in McDowell by William H. Coles, sounds fascinating. From your review, I think the narrative is huge on emotions. For me, this is a must read!

Hiram comes across as a complex individual. He seems to have a strong desire for money and power. These desires lead him away from home a lot that sadly is better for his family. His own children do come in and out of his life through the story. The story takes the reader on Hiram’s journey, illustrating the results of his actions and how his path changes. Will he find redemption for his past mistakes?

Thanks for the insightful review.

I have seen the book become the BOTD countless times, and it was the BOTM for the month of November. This read never fails to surprise anyone, and any reader who hasn't read this book wouldn't regret reading it either. Thank you for your review! Though I have a doubt on, how is the Nepal issue related to the events of this book?

This book was the book of the month for last month. It has been on the free giveaway section frequently; that shows how good this book is. Hiram's character is overwhelming. Sophie is my best character in the book. I also enjoyed reading and reviewing this book as well. Your review has shown Cole's great character development in this book. This is a nice review!

I read this already, and highly recommend it. The ethical questions posed are fascinating in itself, besides the main storyline of Hiram.

Thanks for the review, but I dislike books with detestable protagonists, AND I don't care for tales of redemption, so I have no interest in reading about someone who "just has no time for sentiment or emotion".

I enjoy the part of what you said about character development. There was a lot of that in this book when it came to McDowell. I like that you mentioned his son. Great review!

The best part of Hirams story was when he began to realize that other people mattered. I thought the ending of his story was unfortunate. He was finally finding his good side.

I don't usually enjoy books of this genre. I quite enjoy the writing style of the author. The characters have great depth to them which makes them seem realistic even if their personalities are very unique/different. I want to read the book just because McDowell’s character is so horrible and it makes the story so interesting. I want to see if he becomes even worse throughout the book.

This story have giving the positive meaning to me. Seriously, I'm really love the story. The story telling me that we must persistent when we face the hardest in our life and never simply give up although it's not easy.

I have read another work of William H. Coles which I did not like. However, several reviewers in the OBC platform have given it a 4 out of 4 stars. It seems that the theme of redemption intertwined with suspense has struck a chord with the readers. I will check out the book myself. Thanks for the review!

This suspenseful story of redemption sounds interesting. I feel I would really dislike the main character in the beginning of the book but would enjoy reading about him getting better.
