I would love to peruse a fast-moving and engaging novel as this. The plot of the story was really developed and I like it. Great review

A mystery that is fast-paced and engaging while exploring people's reaction to a co-worker's homosexual relationship seems like a good book. After reading the synopsis provided on Amazon with a pertinent spoiler alert, I think I will pass. Great review!

From a sampling, this is an interesting mystery about a detective investigating her lover's attempted murder. The characters are well developed and this is worth a second look. Well done.

Really helpful review. The sample was a bit difficult to follow, as the characters took turns paragraph by paragraph. It seemed like a decent mix of murder mystery and romance. Not my preference, but well done.

This sounds awesome! The cover was interesting to me to begin with, and I was pleased to see that it was a mystery with dynamic character development. Adding this one to my list!

A mystery novel with romance treats about a murder attempt that involves a lesbian relationship bettween the victim and a detective who takes the case. Their experiences in this new relationship provide an interesting look at the situations faced between these two woman in themselves, their family, and in the police department.

I wonder why who she sleeps with is important. I guess that's a part of the mystery. Congrats on the #BOTD

I like crime and mystery novels, so I am inclined into readjng this book. I also like that this book tackles homosexuality in the workplace.

This seems like it will add in much needed diversity in the murder-mystery genre, while still keeping key elements consistent. The additional complexity of a homosexual relationship in a possibly hostile work environment can help more readers identify with characters they wouldn't have the chance to otherwise.

CaptainPhoton's review of B-Side by Janis Jones is well structured, it has an ample summary of the book, reasons why he liked the book and the score he awarded it. As expected, considering the four out of four stars, there is only a tiny suggestion of what could be improved in the book, i.e. a clearer assignation of the participants to dialogues.

I am sure the homosexual angle to the relationship keeps part of the plot tense. Thank you for the review.

The characters in this book are well developed. Mystery and detective books are usually very interesting. I'm sure I'll love this as well.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

"B-Side," by Janis Jones is about Derek Jenssen, Mara Bays, and Cassandra " Casey " Terranova. Derek and Mara are both Detectives and partners. Derek is the senior partner. Mara and Casey are in a relationship with each other. It is Mara and Casey's anniversary and Casey is at the beach house getting everything ready for their celebration when a man posing as a flower delivery guy brutally attacks her and leaves her unconscious. Mara arrives to find law enforcement, emergency personnel, forensics, equipment, her partner Derek, and a small group of neighbors at the beach house. Derek refuses to let her go inside because they are trying to get Casey stabilized and then they bring her outside to the ambulance where Mara climbs inside to go with her. This story shows Mara's conflicted feelings of being in a homosexual relationship for the first time even though she loves Casey and the fact that she hides it from several of her colleagues since they do not accept this type of relationship. It also shows the the way Derek still feels about Mara because they were involved before Mara and Casey became involved with each other. The author did a good job writing and editing this book. The chapters are short and they flow easily. I like the mystery part of this book but I really didn't enjoy the homosexual relationship part of it. I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because of this fact.

Your review was really insightful! Makes me really want to read the book and learn more about Detective Bays. I appreciate that you included that the chapters are quick and concise with definitive scenes each to keep the story moving, because I also prefer and enjoy mystery novels written that way as well. I look forward to reading this now, I cannot wait!
