After reading both this great review and the free sample on Amazon, I've decided to take a crack at this book since it seems so inspiring.
Just imagine a 44 year old man, getting out of his comfort zone to do all these strong things and overcome all those challenges! If that's not amazing and could inspire me to do better, I don't know what will.

An in-depth review indeed. I especially liked the reviewer's suggestion that the book should be read like reading Arabian Nights. Quite an insightful observation.

I like how the author faced the challenge of mountain climbing. His struggles and victories are told in a way that help you like him. The reviewer did a good job of making this book a good read. I would read it.

A quality volunteer review: The Altitude Journals by David J Mauro! The reviewer well explores the issues raised by the book. I like the description of the theme of focusing on finding joy in each day rather than looking at the summit. The reviewer so keenly describes how to read the book!

I read and reviewed this book sometime back and it's such an amazing read. The biggest lesson I took with me is that nothing is impossible. When you think it's the end a better way opens up. Thanks for this great review.

Thank you for the your review. I was already interested in reading this book after reading a few sample pages leading up to base camp, but your review makes me want to climb into this book even more. I thought it would be a journal entry like book, but was pleasantly surprised that it reads like a fiction novel.

I'm glad I read this review after sampling some pages in the book. The sample pulled me in quickly and I thought I would read the book even though I really have no interest in mountain climbing. However, after reading the review, I don't think I'll read the book. The reviewer described what he was expecting from the book compared to what he actually read and that was interesting. Although he gave a good recommendation, when he mentioned people might be bored or confused after the first two chapters and that a lot of the detail in the book was repeated, I find that I do get bored with too many details, especially if it is repetitive. The reviewer's advice to possibly break up the reading into smaller sections was helpful, but when I sit down to read, I usually read a lot at one time so I think this probably just isn't the book for me.

David J Mauro uses The Altitude Journals to recount his escape from his hilariously recounted mediocrity to find himself counted among the few who have achieved the highest summit of all continents. A delightful story-teller with a fascinating tale that does not shy away from the author's personal shortcomings.

The Altitude Journals by David J. Mauro is an #Inspirational #Memoir that is drawn from Dave's personal diaries. It chronicles how he regained the powers to love, forgive, and to believe in himself while battling his #MidlifeCrisis. It follows Dave's extreme #Adventures to repair his shattered life.

I have not decided whether to read or to bypass reading the entire story.

Thanks for the review.

Book does sound interesting. Story about a man who is having a midlife crisis and is looking for ways to bring excitement in his life like mountain climbing. " must-read for those tempted by the wilderness, those who find themselves in a desperate loop and wish for some instructions on coping and living, and those who are looking for some form of literary excitement." These are great things for the reader to be able to connect with. Congratulations on BOTD.

A man in his forties who is going through mid-life crisis wants to challenge himself for the extreme, like climbing the Mount Everest. This should be a quite inspirational read! Thank you for the review!
The disappearance of the word "I am" is indeed the highest happiness! :)

This sounds both exciting and inspiring. The fact that the author was able to experience so many adventures, even with some of the dangers and struggles, is fascinating to me. While I don't normally read non-fiction, this might be a book I'd check out, just because I like the idea of being able to "live vicariously" through someone else's words and imagery. Thanks for the review!

I like David Mauro's resolve to use mountaineering to tackle his struggles in life. The summits he's assailed in each of the six continents is like a metaphor to his triumph over hardships. Thanks for the wonderful review.

Thanks for the review. I love going on vacations to hills stations but never tried something like mountain climbing. If ever I plan to try it, I will definitely read this book. So am adding this to my to be read list.

A perfect example of using a sport like an extreme form of meditation to deal with hardships of life. Congratulations on BOTD.
