Wow, thanks for this review, Zelinda, I love stories about writers writing - and the link back to a more historic time is a great idea. A very enjoyable review!

Well, I confess reading a story about different kinds of prostitution and most likely the hardships and injustices done to these women deterred me at first from being interested in picking up this book for myself. However, your closing comments, that there is a hopeful theme throughout, gave me pause to rethink just discarding this title. I do like stories of triumph over evil.

I tried to submit a post last evening but somehow it failed. Take #2: I was at first disinclined to put Life Before on my reading list due to the subject matter of prostitution and most likely the hardships and injustices done to women who get trapped in this degenerate crime. However, reading there is a hopeful theme running throughout the story line, as well as the triumph over evil, gives me cause to reconsider this title.
Another well done critique, Zelinda. You have quite a talent for book reviews!
