I added this book to my not interested in reading shelf because I don't think I will enjoy reading about the politics in healthcare and journalism institutions. Sounds like a fascinating and well thought out plot though. Congrats to the author.

I like how you sum up what happens to McDowell as a "rapid spiral down the drain". That certainly is a good metaphor for his rise to the top, and quick fall from it. Nice review!

A ruthless go-getter has his life spiral out of control and winds up in jail. The author has penned a suspenseful read with well developed characters. A thrill to read.

I have known a few who Surgeon Hiram paints a perfect picture of. They will do anything to climb career and corporate ladder, amass wealth, with absolutely no regard for others, and rarely value or treasure their families. It is sad to read of such backward traditions practiced against women in places like Nepal. A redemption story is always welcome eventhough consequences for choices made are inevitable. Great review

This is a very thorough review. Life lessons and redemption are always great concepts to read about in a story. It is rewarding as a reader to be apart of a well-written journey or adventure. Thank you for this review.

William H.Coles is a known writer of human relationships and behaviours. This book explains the rise and fall of a self centered physician, which reminded me of doctor house, the tv series. Congratulations on being BOTD and thanks for the free giveaway.

So much has been said about Hiram McDowell and it's about time I grabbed this book off its shelf and transferred it to mine. Bagging "the best developed character," I want to glean from Coles' masterful way of twisting fate for/against McDowell's favour and read on how he grows into better person. Everyone needs that glimmer of hope. Thanks for the review

I love stories that involve some true to life character growth, as this one seems. And, in truth, I can even admire someone who is as "no-nonsense" as McDowell sounds in the beginning. Regardless of actual plot, I am excited to read a book where the protagonist is seriously rough and hard to like, but finds some sort of redemption along the way. Thanks for such a terrific review. I'm glad I picked this book up.

This seems really interesting. I've only read a few books which play up the corrupt practices in some philanthropic foundations. I am excited to see Hiram change after he meets a particular woman. Thank you for your review!
