I say categorically that this book is a non fiction in the garb of memoir or journal based fiction as it captures the realities of life and the insecurity chiefly attached to faking one's true or original self. I say life is better lived in our true identities.

Thank you for your review: it's refreshing to see so much open emotion and passion following such an eye-opening read. I've read the free extract and although I haven't grown up with Barbra Streisand, I already feel like I know her a little bit. She's a very open and courageous woman and hearing about her childhood - losing her father, being unloved and criticised by her mother, being excluded at school - broke my heart.

Sounds like you really enjoyed the book. It's amazing how she over came all that in her childhood to become who she is. Thank you for the detailed review.

Barbara Streisand has always been a favorite celebrity of mine. As a child I listened to her music over and over. Her movies are fabulous. This book certainly fascinates me. A look behind the scenes with life lessons. A must read ! :tiphat:

For a fictional story, I felt such inspiration oozing from the book review. Barbra Streisand though successful had to overcome so many hurdles to achieve her dreams. This proves that even superstars have lives we can relate to and use as inspiration. Great review Gracie777.

I love your enthusiasm about this book! I'm glad you liked it this much. I for one, don't know much about Barbara Streisand and I'm not really a fan of self help books, (which this kind of sounds like) so I think I'll pass on reading this book. But great job on your emotional review!

Barbra Streisand: On the Couch

These heartbreaking stories shed light on such a well known celebrity. Those who suffer become more sensitive;

The review sounds very enthusiastic and the book itself is very exciting. No matter what the person is he/she is a human being who suffers or feels happy the same as other people. The book teaches a person a lot of lessons like: you are only as beautiful as you see yourself or listening to your inner voice or following your gut is often leading into a satisfactory life and many more. I believe the book is worth reading and congratulations to the author on becoming BOTD!

A memoir that encourages one to achieve to their highest of potential regardless of their current situations. It is indeed a book to be remembered for long after finishing.

Thanks for the review! I liked how much you loved it, I've only read a sample and it has pulled me in. Although it is fiction I do not doubt any of her struggles and abuse, but I would like to know how much is fiction and how much is real. I am excited to start reading this.
