Emaji a beautiful world that lies parallel to Earth and only accessed through a portal in Rose’s library. A world were the people have wings, gills, magic, and skin colors that define not only their unique personalities but stature as well. Amanda is the sparrow the long awaited hero that will free Emaji from the evil Zorn, not to mention the pre destined wife to be of Solomon. Can she accept these things, or will she run back to Earth never looking back?
So when I read Emaji Nation The Sparrow it was already the 2nd edition, already re-revised. Usually that means all the bugs are fixed and all the T’s are crosssed and I’s dotted right? Well for the most part they were. Except for the glossary, which I found extremely helpful, had a major missing term in it. The author put all the characters, terms, and need to knows in there except one of the main characters, Solomon. I was a bit shocked to find such an important error. I hope that’s only on the PDF version and not in the actual book.
What I loved about Emaji Nation The Sparrow was the fact that Denna M. Davis totally did a classic Stargate SG-1 within the novel. Except instead of different worlds it was within Emaji itself and Earth. The use of Japanese within its pages when Solomon was doing his workout to keep warm was a very nice touch that I was pleasantly surprised to see. I also really loved how all the characters were so colorful, I mean that alone was a treat to read. I could literally see everyone in my minds eye due to her exquisite attention to detail.
There was nothing about the story I disliked. I recommend this book to people who loved the movie Avatar, for I find the world of Emaji just as beautiful and fascinating as Pandora. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for its realistic imagery in the story and the phenomenal descriptions of the characters within. I can not wait until her next novel is out.
