30th Century: Escape by Mark Kingston Levin is my first sci-fi read. Its quite an engaging read with a dose of romance. A compelling one with a time-travel backdrop, posing interesting problems the technology in the future might bring in.

The story revolves around Captain Jeniffer Hero, who is the main lead, born & raised in 30th Century. She has a lover who is also a Nobel Laureate Professor, Zexton Ho. He is the creator of the time travelling machine, Trans-Time One. He will be assassinated by the Syndos(the genetically altered humans) and the world is in crisis.

Still shattered by the loss of her love, Jeniffer is entrusted with a job to fight the Syndos, save the Naturals(the humans) & her psyche. The plot is how she uses the Trans-Time One, lead her team, survive & complete her mission. How will she escape to 21st century leaving her colleagues in 27th century. The story discusses about the challenges she faces while trying to implant the virus to eliminate the Syndos.

I am really impressed by the way the author has presented the ideas, describing how people have evolved, their life and culture across the centuries - its thought-provoking. The selection of characters, their design, the story flow is flawless.

As a budding sci-fi reader, I found it a little difficult to catch up with the scientific & technological terms initially, but got into ease as the plot unfolded. The relationship Jen shares with the other two supporting leads is interesting but quite unconventional.

Altogether, this novel has given me a different experience & it has opened an window to my imagination & perspective.

All in all, it was a well edited book giving the reader a top-notch experience. I give the book a 4 out of 4 star.
