The Crystilleries of Echoland, by Dew Pellucid is about a boy named Will Cleary who sets out to search for his twin sister Emmy who has been missing since they were kidnapped at the age of two. With the help of his childhood pets, he discovers hidden truths about his life and the relationship between Sounds and Echoes. An Echo cannot live if his Sound dies. He is part of the bigger picture. The king of Echoland has been unjustly dethroned by an unidentified being. Will learns that he is the Sound of Prince William, and there are people who have been given the task to find and kill him so that the prince will not become king. Will must find Prince William to help the prince rightfully become king, restore order, and try to find Emmy. Little does he know, there are mystical entities, enigmas, and traps implemented to prevent him from having a successful journey.
What I like most about this book is that the story is captivating from the first chapter with mystery, suspense, and magical creatures. This is my first Audible book experience, and I love it. I cannot believe it took me so long to try it out. The narrator’s voice is relaxing and easy to follow. He speaks clearly and differentiates his voice between character dialogue. The author writes in a way that draws you in and keeps you entertained. Just when you think things cannot be any more intriguing, there is a plot twist! There is vast array of characters that Pellucid describes with a significant amount of detail. The action scenes and the demise of creatures are expressed with vivid imagery. It is as if you are watching it happen while you are listening to the words. I would like to see this made into a movie with every single detail found in the book!
There is nothing that I dislike about this book. I am a bit upset that the book had to end! I am ready for the next adventure, and I hope there is another book in the making. It is the perfect book to sit, close your eyes, listen to, and let your imagination soar.
This book is full of action, mystery, and adventure. It is also contains extensive vocabulary. That is the perfect recipe for a great book. For these reasons, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to those who love to immerse themselves in an enchanted story full of action. Audible is a great way to experience the story. I do not recommend this story to anyone unable to handle references to suicide, murder, magic, or sorcery.
