One Way Or Another is the first installment in the “Sisters Quartet” written by Mary J Williams. As the first in the series, the author introduces us to the Benedict sisters. Andi, Calder, Bryce and Destry are the daughters of Billie Benedict. She will never win an award for mother of the year, but the girls have formed an incredibly strong bond as they depend upon each other for support and love. The family is extremely wealthy but do to antiquated thinking on their grandfather’s part, the bulk of the fortune can only be passed to a male Benedict. The book begins with a small bit of history regarding their childhoods but its main focus is on Calder Benedict.
Calder is a strong woman focused on running her Children’s Charity when she meets Adam. As one who has been hurt before, she is naturally disinclined to want to start any kind of relationship. Yet she can’t seem to help herself from feeling things for him. As we watch their romance progress, the author introduces an interesting twist that includes Calder’s mother, father and a nefarious character named Ingo Hunter.
From subterfuge and blackmail to outright thefts, this storyline heats up as the author spins a web that draws you in and makes you want to know all the details and outcomes. You really get the sense that the sisters are united in all things and will do whatever it takes to best Ingo Hunter. The author gives great insight into complicated relationships and makes you feel as though you are right in the middle of the scenes. Adam’s relationship with his own mother is incredible, touching and loving.
Because this is a romance, there are some scenes of a sexual nature but I didn’t feel as though any of them were so graphic as to hinder who this book would appeal to. I think most adults and young adults will enjoy this series. I enjoyed the familial interactions between the sisters and really couldn’t find fault with anything. The author makes you want get to know each sister and their respective stories.
Based on my reading, I will give this book a 4 out of 4 star rating. The story flowed along easily and was well proofread and edited. I am looking forward to reading the remaining three books in this series. The author has introduced an interesting storyline and I want to know the conclusion.

I found it hard to put the book down and relished in the fact that there was another chapter waiting for me at the end of the previous one
