The End Time Foretellers written by Ran Weber is a detailed, well written book in the genres of science fiction, cyber fiction and alternative history. The author weaves a plethora of inter-woven story lines into an exciting piece of fiction. The main plot of this book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
We are first introduced to the main character, Yoav. Owner of a computer gaming store in the country of Israel, he has become complacent and comfortable in his life. He has suffered in his earlier years and still struggles with the memories so the relatively slow pace of his life in Tel Aviv is well suited for him. Then he is approached by a former superior of his military service who strong arms him into performing a task for him (and his country) that will take him away from his life and send him to the United States. Yoav has computer hacking skills that are superb and will be needed for this task. He cannot say no to this request.
We are also introduced to another central character, Binyamin Wolf and his son Aharon. They live in the United States and meet Yoav almost as soon as he arrives there. Binyamin takes Yoav home with him, finds him lodging, and sets out to be a friend. He is kind and attempts to reconnect Yoav to his Jewish faith and rituals. He offers support and wisdom to his troubled new friend. We also meet and learn about a substantial cast of characters who all prove to be vital to the story. Some of these are not what they seem and this adds to the surprising conclusion of this story.
I really enjoyed this book as the author gives such detail to all situations that you can truly find them believable. I found myself invested in these characters and in some cases, truly surprised at their actions. I would recommend this to adult readers as some of the subject matter seems a little intense for children. I loved that the author used Jewish expressions and terms, but I disliked that not all of them were given definitions.
As I read through this book, I did not notice any spelling, punctuation or grammar errors so I would definitely assume that this book was professionally edited and proofread. I am pleased to give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I look forward to reading more from this author.
