Island Games by Caleb J. Boyer is the first book in a series of Young Adult adventures. It is one story that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat as you go through the thrilling scenes.

Matthew and Ryan are two very good friends, just hanging out and playing games. Suddenly they find themselves waking up in an island washed ashore from the ocean. They are in a very strange place and all they can see is the vast waters and a forest behind them. They don’t know where they are, how they got there, and what awaits them. Besides that, they are fatigued and hungry. Soon night falls, and they start getting cold so, they have to come up with a way to keep warm and at the same time stay safe from whatever might be lurking in the darkness.

When they discover they have no supplies and they might be forced to fight for a meal to survive, the boys start to be worried. However, all is not lost as they see a huge vessel floating on the water, so they have to swim to get to it. This is just but the first of the many challenges that await them on this adventure. The hardest part is staying together. So will their friendship be strong enough to see them through these hurdles, or will they fall to the games?

Caleb has written an epic and exciting book. I must admit that I read this book quite fast as I couldn’t put it down. The storyline is so good as it flows with no hiccups whatsoever. The plot also has no gaps that would break the flow while reading this book. Caleb has authored this book with so much creativity and depth that it gives Island Games an edge. Moreover considering the book has only two characters the character development is excellently done. While Mathew is more thoughtful and rational, Ryan, on the other hand, is less and thoughtful and reckless.

The scenes are different hence making it more exciting. From the sandy beaches to the freezing mountains to the hot desert all work to make the book more interesting. The book is also fast-paced, so the thrill and chills it gives to a reader are just awesome. There are so many good aspects to this book that I can’t possibly finish discussing in this short review. Having said all these I must say I found no fault in this book as found only one error.

In conclusion, it was a good read that I really enjoyed. I will rate it a 4 out of 4 stars. Despite that error, I found no fault to reduce that rating. I would recommend the book to all Young Adult genre lovers.

I enjoy reading reviews on books that I have also reviewed. Your review was very thoughtful. I agree that only having two characters made it a unique read.
