Stella Knights wastes no time getting to the point in her novel Lost and Love: Thailand (Book One of the Lost and Love Series). A husband and wife are just going through the motions of their marriage. They’ve been together since they were in college, but what was once fiery and passionate has turned into a routine of monotony. So, they decide to take a vacation to Thailand. It has so much to offer, beautiful beaches, castles, tourist attractions, scuba diving, and more. Savannah, the wife, feels that this is just what they need to rekindle the flame they once had. Far away from the pressures of work and family, they should be able to find themselves again.
Savannah enjoys everything Thailand has to offer and is trying to soak it all in. Something seems to be off with Johnny, though. No matter where they are, or how hard she tries, she can’t seem to break through to him. Finally, on a night when they are far from the hustle and bustle of the city, Johnny finally confesses an idea he thinks could help. Savannah is hesitant, but after some imagination and continued nudging from Johnny, she decides to try it. It seems to go well until it starts falling apart. Savannah doesn’t know what went wrong, but she now has a choice to make and it won’t be an easy one.
Knights sets the stage very well for her readers to connect with her characters. Their feelings and lives are relatable. Their struggles are realistic, and they handle them in ways that a lot of people do. The erotic scenes are not overly graphic, but they do paint a vivid picture. I didn’t find her use of language in these scenes odd, as I often do with other authors. I also enjoyed the way she left the ending. She prepared us well for the next book.
There were really no negatives for me in this one. I didn’t notice any grammatical errors and it seemed to be well edited. Names, places, and motivations stayed consistent throughout and there was personal growth for the main character.
I am rating this one as 4 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed the story, the characters, the places, and the descriptions. I am ready and anxiously awaiting the next book of the series. I would recommend this book to young adults and older who enjoy a good romance novel Be prepared for those steamy scenes, though.
