0fficial Review: Idiom Attack-Everyday Living
by : Cynthia M. Parreno » 24 Oct. 2019
Idioms Attack- Everyday Living is a non fiction book written by the three authors, I considered excellent namely: Peter N. Liptak, Matthew Douma and Jay Douma. This book contains idioms that reflect various angles of our daily lives. It covers a wide parameter that contains 25 areas, each containing the examples of the idioms that are related to it. The authors were organized and systematic in introducing the idioms when they gave several steps. It begins with the using of idiom in a sentence and giving its meaning, doing the exercises of filling in the blanks with the correct idioms, reading the story that contained idioms, answered questions based on the story given, answered questions for discussion that made the readers relate the story to their real life situation and in every end of five chapters there is crossword puzzle in order to make a thorough review of how far the readers could recall and identify the different idioms learned. Through this varied assessments provided by the author, we could infer that they are using good techniques so that learning of idioms will transfer to the readers effectively.
I think they really made this book in order to help their fellow authors in their writing to make it interesting, symbolic and colorful. It’s so touching to be that way, making the world of writers or authors full of thoughtfulness and concern with each other. Helping one another is really great. When the authors thought of writing this idioms ,that could really make a big difference when you used it in your creative writing, it is a very wonderful way of their reaching out to their fellow writers. It was like them giving paint that gave a wonderful colors to the stories written by those people endowed with skills in writing. This act of thoughtfulness will make the world of writers a wonderful place to belong.
I salute the three authors, who exerted a thorough effort to research for these very useful idioms that are of great help to the people who dreamed to write. They are like scientists who spend difficult times roaming around the forest looking for a precious herb that will be used to treat a long time untreated disease, but this time in the field of writing it was the herb that will give flavor to the written work of the authors in order to carry out their goal in making their work vivid and interesting in the mind and heart of the readers.
This book is almost flawless except for a slight mistakes due to human imperfection. Making some slight suggestion to trim down a little the work of excellent writers is so daring and it requires great courage. The flaws that I found out was not intentional but just an error done because of some human factors such as tiredness and many others, but even it’s just very little, still it means a lot to the readers, who regarded authors as highly intelligent and incapable of making mistakes. There is a saying that goes “Many heads are better than one”, that’s the reason why every work should be reviewed to make it perfect.
Overall, this book is very informative and of great help to the writers especially in creative writing. If you could able to master all the idioms written in this book then you could able to describe very simple things into an awesome way ,thus it could carry out the goals of the writer of making their work colorful and artistic. A small bit of flaws could be more than enough compensated by the brilliant ideas that sprouted from the authors mind to write this kind of book and so I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
