Sam Brand talks about his journey to the New York City Marathon as a human ant, but he comes back home transformed into a human dolphin. In his book Dolphins Don't Run Marathons, he gives the reader a set of advice on how to live a fulfilled life without any regrets. He has put together a book in form of 26.2 miles of wisdom on how to get on the path to being a human dolphin. He compares humans to dolphins, chimpanzees and ants.

Sam Brand has pointed out three categories of people as human animals in the marathon running jungle. The human ant, the human chimpanzee, and the human dolphin. The human ant is a man runner, running long steady runs with a small head and big eyes. He is always tired and sad, rarely smiling with all kinds of personality disorders. The human ant worries about health and tends to live a stressful life. The human chimpanzees don't like sports, they are more intelligent and happier than the ants. They are not jealous instead they are more supportive and nice. Human dolphins, on the other hand, are athletic people who manage to achieve a balance between all sorts of sports. They enjoy life for what it is, having relationship values and have a great social network. Their ultimate goal is happiness and well-being.

The writing of Sam Brand is quite simple and direct. The book is written in first person narration. While reading I felt like I was running a marathon, only the marathon was in words. The chapters are titled as miles and are written in short paragraphs. It was quite an easy read. The author is quite precise, there is no hesitation in his narration he just delivers the message as it is.

The only negative point in the book was the way Sam Brand described most marathoners as human ants. This is because I feel like there are some people who are actually talented in running. Regardless, I really found that the book was so fascinating and I would not mind reading it again. What I liked most about Dolphins Don't Run Marathons by Sam Brand was the way his story reflects our own lives. An example would be how we are constantly dieting so as to find the ultimate nutrition. I also realized that I am a human ant. One particular sentence caught my eye, “ants love to talk very highly of themselves, but the perspective of an ant's view is less than an inch from the ground. ”

The book was well edited since I only found one error hence I rate Dolphins Don't Run Marathons by Sam Brand 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to the adult audience, especially if you are stuck in life looking for a way to balance your life, then this is a perfect read for you. In the end being a human dolphin is the ultimate goal because it means being able to balance work, entertainment and being active all at the same time. This is a guide to transforming your life from a human ant to a human dolphin.

I haven't read this book but I know it takes an appreciable amount of effort and imagination to develop this type of storyline. Nice work.
