The book began with lots of action, when Uri Levin, an Israeli Mossad special forces agent, go on a mission to find and kill a Hezbollah terrorist named Hakim. Hakim and his group were responsible for the raids at the schools near the border, killing the children and guards. After the successful and deadly mission, Uri found some documents inside the cave.

In Washington, D.C. is special agent Lara Edmond of the FBI Anti-Terrorist Group. A computer expert, she is in charge of checking and identifying suspicious electronic traffic worldwide. Lara and her team were able to break the code and identify the sites used by the Hezbollah. Uri was sent to the United States to team up with Lara after the documents he found became the key to aiding the Anti-Terrorist Group in discovering the internet sites.

East Wind, 2nd Edition by Jack Winnick is in the Thriller, Espionage and Romance genre; not necessarily fast-paced, but full of excitement; with political, educational and historical data I was happy to acquire a knowledge of.

When a nuclear bomb detonated in Los Angeles, the government authorities all rushed to investigate. The terrorists threaten to send another bomb if their demands were not followed. Will they find the terrorists in time? Will they be able to determine the location of the next bomb? Can Walid be trusted? Is he reliable, or is he leading them into a trap? Lara and Uri will have to trust their instincts and conclusions based on their investigations.

The story, at times, jumps to the Hezbollah agents who studied and worked in the United States after they were recruited and radicalized at a young age. The author did a great job of showing their points of view, their beliefs and the way they think, and their hatred for westerners and non-believers. That is why I appreciate reading the book, as compared to seeing a movie version.

I liked the educative parts, particularly the history of how Israel started, and the unexpected twists in the story. I liked the way the story came together, and the connection to the meaning of the title. What I disliked most was the long narrative on the making of the nuclear bomb and the technical descriptions of the critical mass. However, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book, and I was very impressed with the knowledge and credentials of Mr. Winnick, himself being an expert in Chemical and Nuclear Engineering.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, and highly recommend this to readers who love espionage and FBI stories. I don’t recommend this to young readers because of the terrorism aspect. There is no profanity nor erotic scenes in this book, and I did not catch any errors. This is the first in the series of Lara and Uri's adventures.

I was quite interested in reading the radicalised beliefs of the recruits and what informed their actions.
Thank you for the amazing review.

I read the Date Farm of the author and that include another mission of Uri and Lara. I really like the thriller and adventure in that book. This book also seems to be full of adventure and action. I appreciate the author for such a great work. I'll definitely check this one out also. It is a great review. Thanks!

A novel with multiple points of views of different characters have always impressed me. Thanks for the review.
We're all philosophers. When there's a tough choice to be made, when faced with the facts of birth, love or death or simply when thinking about what we want to do with our lives.

You make an interesting comment about the book's content compared to what a possible movie might show. The author made an interesting dig into characters' psychology, and a book is the best to do that as the author can describe feelings and thoughts.
Ciao :)

It's not my preferred genre, but your review is tempting me to give this book a read. Thanks for pointing out that the author is a chemical and nuclear specialist. There is always something to be learned from an expert in their field.

Action and crime thrillers are my favorites and this is not an exception. I enjoyed reading the book and I would love to read other books from the series.
