Forbidden love, magic, adventure, politics and war continue in Dagger’s Destiny by Linnea Tanner. Catrin, Celtic Princess has been accused of treason and exiled. She now must figure out how to get back into her father’s good graces and learn how to become a leader of her people. Marcellus, the son of the Roman Senator has also been accused of treason and must convince his father to not defy the Emperor’s mandate. Both Catrin and Marcellus are up against impossible odds and must make choices between their respective people and where their hearts lead. As the impossible looms ahead, their love continues to bloom in a forbidden love affair.

I love this story and it caught my attention with the first book. The history, magic, intrigue, and battles are thrilling and keep me turning the pages. I am excited to see where Marcellus and Catrin end up, and if they will continue their love affair. Linnea Tanner has a way of mixing the magical with the historical and keeping the storyline easy to read. The characters are very well developed and I find myself wanting to learn more about them. Especially Catrin who is a very strong female character. I found myself completely rooting for her in the end. I also found her mother to be an intriguing character as I did not like her as a mother. With so many strong female characters I found Rhianna to be a weaker character, which only added to the story.

I also enjoyed having a map and a list of characters to keep everything straight in my head. I did refer to the list of characters as Linnea has several secondary characters that add to the story. I kept getting some of them confused so having a list helped me tremendously. My only complaint would be that sometimes it is hard to keep everyone straight and the names can be somewhat difficult.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The story is exciting and keeps my interest. I found no errors though there are some profanity and eroticism in the story. The eroticism and the profanity only added to the storyline, it did not detract from the book at all.

I highly recommend this book for older teens and adults. There is some eroticism that may not be appropriate for a younger audience, so use parental guidance if appropriate. Overall, I enjoyed the book and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for book three.
