With a simple way of writing, this story follows Sarah, a young teen who has lived a hard life. She meets her grandfather Tom for the very first time and she is, suddenly, thrown in a world of old, where legends seem as true as reality. Sarah must learn to hike alongside her grandfather, William and Myra as they embark on a two week-journey that ends with danger.

Sarah gets to know Tom and his life in the Olympic Peninsula. Furthermore, she gets to go on a journey that goes beyond the limitations of time and place. She is without a doubt, one strong-willed young girl, not yet a woman.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a cozy read filled with knowledge about archeology, fossils and biological theories about how civilization was created. Beyond the storyline and exciting plot, you can find a multidimensional character development from a lot of the characters that you learn to love.

The thing I enjoyed the most about Strong Heart was that, in its own way, it was not just one good story but two. It made the book much more enjoyable, because it felt like I was getting not just a good scoop of vanilla but of chocolate as well. And I could not find anything I disliked about the story nor its characters.

Charlie Sheldon is a great storyteller and I give this book a good 4 out of 4 stars. I could not find any mistakes, as it was beautifully edited. Also, I don’t believe this book deserved a lower rating because it was a great story, well thought out and truly enjoyable.

This book is ideal for any reader, however, it is important to note that there are some bloody parts that might not be apt for children. I would especially recommend this book to those that enjoy nature and biology. A good adventure to read on a rainy afternoon.
