"Everything changed the day she figured out there was exactly enough time for the important things in her life."

Dying Well could easily be renamed Living Well. Readers are guided through the author's most perilous time of life and what it means to face the beast called cancer. This novel allows readers to really appreciate all of the small things in life and not take anything for granted, especially the moments we create with other people. As we are taken into the life of the author, we are allowed a glimpse into the world of the fight against cancer, and how anything can be made beautiful. Everything is described in perfect detail, from the hospital waiting rooms to the Celebration of Life Party. When introduced to a new character, readers will feel as though they're actually meeting them, with both mannerisms and physical details described, it's like we're transported right to where the author is in that moment. With an easy flow to her writing, Susan Hoben offers a positive and realistic approach to life while there's a clear end in sight, which is a perspective not everyone knows. Fearless, detailed, and hopeful, anyone would be able to appreciate and learn from this story.
