Containment Breach is a sci-fi and dystopian novel written by Wm. A. Yandell. Walter Smithton is a bioengineering scientist who works on life forms, he is suddenly taken, together with his team, into a space station to try to stop the Creatures that were created by another scientist (Zayack), from spreading and to avoid them to get to earth.

Walt, and his small team are suddenly prepared for a mission that they are not told anything about. Everything is so secretive. The story is told mainly by the protagonist: Walt Smithton, although the book combines both first-person and third-person narration.

Containment Breach is set in a military-ruled society in which everything is unclear, most of the things they tell them are lies. The scientists are being watched with cameras and microphones all over their workplace. They even send Government Readers (who can read other people’s minds) to know Dr. Smithton’s reactions, what he thinks, etc. Many secrets are hidden from the scientists. However, Dr. Smithton is afraid of being discovered because he also has something to hide from them. The military superiors they have to work with are very strict, they don’t tolerate disobedience or mistakes, and whoever infringe the rules or make mistakes are severely punished.

The novel begins in media res, and the reader gets immediately immersed in the story, even though we don't know much yet. The book is written in plain language, but at the same time its vocabulary is very rich. There are no chapter divisions, Yandell uses a line of dots to distinguish what would be known as a normal chapter and also to separate scene changes. At first, it was a little confusing, but once you get used to it, you realize it’s an innovative way of presenting chapter divisions.

I enjoyed the descriptions in the book; the author gave small doses of information offering the reader a constant thread to keep pulling on. One of the things I liked most was the secrecy the book had because it gave the story a lot of suspense, there were many secretive characters, like Walt and director Bush, the events were surrounded by secrecy as well. The only thing I didn’t like was the beginning of the book because the starting scene was confusing although later everything is explained.

In short, the book was brilliant, there was almost nothing I didn’t like; therefore, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. There were very few typographical errors, almost none so it is perfectly edited. It’s a unique book compared to other books of the sci-fi and dystopian genres. The fluent writing and the mystery of the story made it difficult for me to stop reading. The story is so intriguing that the reader won’t get bored at all. As it only has a couple profane words, the novel is suitable for any kind of reader who like sci-fi and dystopian novels, even young readers.
