Review by CYSON DOROPH -- The Date Farm by Jack Winnick
In this story, the author talks to us about a great deal of killings, poorly justified, that took place at the Popular mall awhile back. This was during a typical summer weekend in Beverly Hills. This was at a rave, where shops had been closed for the evening, because the mall owners figured it was a good way to make use and money from the facility and parking lot. The bands had been registered and were limited to four members each. They, the performers, were not checked closely because no one expected something like that to happen. The assailants, ten in number and all of them, were young Middle Eastern males, with a predominance of the Persian ancestry.
To make his story authentic, the writer gives reference to the 9/11 tradegy and the heinous acts being celebrated as a glorious military victory, for the forces of Islam as on September 11, 2001. The exact dates, that is to say day, month or year were not specified, but the periods of time, when the events took place, are talked about, that is to say morning, afternoon, evening or night, et cetera. The physique, physiognomy of each one of the characters, alongside their feelings and traits, are also written about by the author. The locations, chosen for each one of the events that took place, are those I have heard about before for example Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, et cetera. The elements deployed into this story include joy, love, intrigue, doubt, indifference, et cetera. I did not notice any grammar or typing errors, hence a great deal of effort was geared towards editing. This story is genuinely captivating due to the emotions it stirred up inside me, especially anger, but happiness was also part of the plot. This was attributed to by the bonding moments between Uri and the Edmonds, during his visit to the farm. The cause of the killing of the innocent, regardless of whether they were young or old, is talked about as well as the results and goal, though the masterminds were not captured, but were written about by the author. Hence, I rate this story 4 out of 4 stars.
It is sad to think that some of the individuals who have a great deal of knowledge about, all of, the religious teachings, for example Zainal use it to psychologically manipulate those, who would love to show their loyalty to God, with the aim of going to a better place after their death, by making them commit murder, theft, et cetera. Though there is a large number of individuals willing to commit acts of treachery, there are also individuals working tirelessly to avert such, for example Mike Toghiani, Miles Trowbridge, et cetera. The prosthetic left eye Uri had shows that there will always be technological advancements in place. My favorite segment is, when I was reading about the genesis of the Edmonds. I was very saddened by the killings that took place at the Popular mall.
The Date Farm is a book written by Jack Winnick about the sad and happy moments Lara and Uri have witnessed, while executing their roles as security operatives.
I recommend this story for those aged fifteen years old and above who would love to find out why some and how some acts of treachery have come to be and still continue taking place, with some segments of romance. If you love reading in general, this story is a good read you should catch up on.
