Review by DEEPA PUJARI -- What's Your Favorite Color?
[Following is a volunteer review of "What's Your Favorite Color?" by Amber L Lassiter.]
What’s Your Favorite Color? is a delightful children's book written by Amber L. Lassiter. The book tells us about a young girl Amber, and her eventful day at school.
Amber is very excited to participate in the painting contest at school. The competition is to paint using your favorite color. Unfortunately, Amber has left her paints at home. She has to borrow paints from her friends to finish her painting. But there is one catch, Amber has to keep her favorite color a secret. How will Amber be able to borrow colors from her classmates without letting them know about her favorite color? Read the book to find out how Amber solves this problem.
The author has described all the features and characters in the book in detail, which makes the book quite realistic. The illustrations in the book are expressive and help to enhance the story. They do complete justice to the emotions in the story. The story is streamlined and easy to follow. The book is very interactive and will keep the reader thoroughly engaged. Children can learn from the way Amber takes the challenge in her stride and resolves her problem. The book has an element of suspense, which makes it a page-turner.
What I liked most about this book is that it is a story cum activity book. The author has added a few worksheets in the book that can be used to perform these activities. The activities make the book more appealing as it keeps the reader alert and stimulates thought. The book also has some riddles which add a playful element to it and give food for thought.
There is nothing that I dislike about the book. The book is well-written and impeccably edited. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is interactive, fun, and educational. I recommend this book for children ages 6-8years, who can read independently. It can also be read aloud to younger children. The book is perfect for an interactive storytelling session.
