All Good Things by Rosemary Reeve is the first of four in a series. Featuring young Attorney Jack Hart, when his work friend Harmony Piper goes missing, Jack is understandably upset. You see, Harmony isn’t just a work friend to Jack; he has a major crush on her. To complicate matters, Harmony is the boss’s daughter and the founder’s granddaughter. Jack doesn’t think that Harmony feels the same as he does. She is beautiful, smart and one heck of an attorney. Self-deprecating Jack feels he may not be worthy.

After Jack’s father died and his mother abandoned him as a young child, he was sent to several foster homes over the years. But Jack overcame the years of abandonment and abuse to graduate from law school and is now employed by a high-powered Seattle law firm. It’s no wonder Jack saw a kindred spirit in the clearly abandoned and traumatized dog who followed him home.

Jack finds himself teamed up with Officer Mark Oden, who as it turns out was in the same foster home as Jack for six months when they were teenagers. They quickly resume the friendship of their youth. Mark has also overcome his traumatic childhood to become a quickly rising police officer. Both Mark and Jack’s dog Betsy will come to play important roles in Jack’s hunt for Harmony.

As the dead bodies start piling up, Jack becomes even more concerned about the missing Harmony. Has one of her clients kidnapped her or harmed her in some way? Did she disappear on her own the way her secretary thought she had? Is she still alive and if so, can Jack find her before harm comes her way?

I liked everything about this book. The plot wasn't evident until it was revealed, which is unusual for me. Jack’s relationships felt real and integrated nicely into the storyline. I found the characters to be well developed. There are three more Jack Hart books and I fully intend to read all of them.

Legal thrillers happen to be my favorite genre, and I also liked that it was set in Seattle and the surrounding area. I spent the first 35 years of my life in that area, so I was thrilled the story included so many familiar places.

I have rated this book with 4 out of 4 stars. It appears to be professionally edited with only a few minor punctuation errors. There is a minor amount of profanity that, for my taste, did not distract in any way. However, I wanted to note that for people who might be sensitive to such.
