Review by Chege_wanjiku -- The Dark Web Murders
[Following is a volunteer review of "The Dark Web Murders" by Brian O'Hare.]
The Dark Web Murder by Brian O'Hare is a fictional, mystery and well written crime novel. It is written for audiences who love and enjoy reading suspense. It is a very comfortable and easy to read book that flows well hence gives one the curiosity to find out who among the many suspects is the real killer.
Judge Trevor Neeson is found brutally murdered in his own home and his body desecrated. This is followed by more killings which police discover on the dark web. Chief inspector Jim Sheehan and his team need to solve the mystery before the killer gets to kill more victims. But the killer is seen to be one step ahead always.
The team is trying their best to find the connection between the two murders. Detective Stewart sees a blog on the Dark web written by the killer who calls himself "Nemeih". He describes in details the murder of the two victims. While carrying on with further investigation, they find a safe that belonged to the judge and they hope the information will lead them to the killer. This is just but one of the leads they hang onto.
There are multiple characters in the story, and each character is given a unique role and personality. DCI Sheehan is the character that caught my attention. He is seen to be incredible at his work and depends on his instincts to solve the case. He and his team solved the mystery realistically and all the clues were explained very well making it possible for the readers to keep up. I loved how Sheehan’s brain works in solving clues, analyzing them with a lot of keenness.The book has many other characters who are introduced at the beginning. The characters are well developed hence it was easy to identify with each character at a personal level.
Brian O’Hare is a creative writer. This book is keenly planned, researched and has a flawless narration which is followed by a great dialog."He defines the views and opinions of the killer by reading the killer's mind." Although this is the fourth book in his series, he does a great job of delivering information hence the book is readable as a stand-alone.
I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars . It is an excellent page-turner hence that keeps the reader engaged to the last page. Brian O’Hare has a way of capturing the mind that makes the reader wanting to continue to read just to find out what will happen next. The novel is professionally edited, and the language and writing is good, that it does deserve a thumbs up . The issues I found with the book are largely a matter of personal taste. I would recommend this book to anyone who is thrilled by mystery books. I must say this book got into me i can't stop thinking about it.
