[Following is a volunteer review of "The Date Farm" by Jack Winnick.]
The Date Farm, by Jack Winnick is a book which there are ample action and emotion. It is a war thriller and these are the kind of book many of us enjoy reading immensely, me personally. This book is another excellent and engaging plot in the series about two intrepid intelligence agents and their fight against fundamentalist terrorists whose aim is the destruction of Israel and to cripple the United States. Once again, the plot and the action is thoroughly absorbing and it is thrilling to read about older characters on both sides of the plot. The Iran and America situation is well known, and this story has utilized that concept very well.
This book is one which involves fighting, attacks, strategies and the survival of the protagonists through it all. This is the kind of book which is hard to put down once opened. There's never a dull moment in this fast-paced action thriller. The plot is something which the people can relate to as it evolves. This story has been developed around real-life events which means that it literally goes straight to your heart. Although this book is an action thriller, it does not mean that it has abandoned humanity in the name of war. Rather touching heart to heart moments have been portrayed from time to time in the most unpleasing and dangerous locations which include the date farms of Iran, and hence the name of the story.
Having a deep interest in an action thriller, this book was something I was looking forward to for a long time. I have read the previous books of this series and thus this Lara and Uri adventure book was highly anticipated by me. The story of this book revolves around fighting terrorists, seeking justice and digging out those people who are trying to sabotage the US Military. The reach of these people is not only limited to the military but they have an eye for the economy of the United States as well and how it can be collapsed. Many locations of United States and Iran have been used in the plot from Los Angeles to Tehran and Kazernun where the date farms are actually located. These date farms are the location from which all the action is being taken against the US Military and economy as this place is the secret cover for the various electronic gizmos through which they are planning and plotting.
The story starts when our protagonist, the FBI Agent Lara Edmond is on vacation with her husband, Uri Levin who is a Mossad agent. They are on a vacation with their family in Ohio. But the terrorists plan a gruesome attack in a mall of Beverly Hills which claimed the life of more than a hundred people. The whole intelligence department shook. Lara and Uri were called back immediately and soon the plot begins to unfold as they start detecting all the attacks which were soon going to targeted at America. This story follows the journey of these two agents as they start solving this mystery.
The book is well-written and professionally edited. I found no grammatical errors in it. This Lara and Uri book is a good read and I would like to give it 4 out of 4 stars.
