[Following is a volunteer review of "Compelling American Conversations" by Eric H. Roth and Toni Aberson and Hal Bogotch.]
To my knowledge, this fluency-focused textbook is used by several community colleges in America, to teach both kids and adults the basics of the English language. Speaking English is a crucial driver of immigrants integration in America. The authors structured his message in a way that the reader would be able to follow the story effectively without confusion. Speaking English gives readers more opportunities to settle down in America.
Compelling American Conversations by Eric H. Roth, Toni Aberson, and Hal Bogotech is an exciting book that tells us about the importance of speaking English. Immigrants learn how to speak English better when exposed daily and involved in the day to day activities. We live and learn from people close to us. Each chapter of this book is divided into various sections of questions and useful proverbs.
In my experience, immigrants differ in their ability to learn the English language. It's easy for some immigrants, while some need pushing or extensive tutoring to assimilate better. With time, language skills increases.
I found this book interesting because it features some revised and updated chapters which focused on making conversations in the English language. It's sometimes complicated and confusing. English learning immigrants should cultivate the habit of writing, speaking, and practicing. I liked that my reading flow was maintained while I read. This was not only because of how enjoyable the proverbs was, but also how good the editor's work was. I found absolutely no typographical or grammatical errors throughout this book.
I enjoyed reading the opening statements that were made at the beginning of each chapter. I believe these statements are essential to educating the reader to know the usefulness of communication, giving them a clue of what to expect in that chapter. My favorite opening statement was located in section two, where the author wrote about expanding vocabulary. Valuable information is gotten by asking questions and sharing ideas with your teachers, classmate, and relatives.
There is nothing to dislike about this book. The textbook does excellent work in helping immigrants, and the readers achieve their aim. I enjoyed every bit of the time I spent reading and finished the book in one sitting. As a result of how much I enjoyed this read as well as how well-written it was, I rate Compelling American Conversations 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to people who are interested in learning how to speak English.
