[Following is a volunteer review of "The Dark Web Murders" by Brian O'Hare.]
The Dark Web Murders is the fourth book in the Inspector Sheehan Mysteries Series. It is a crime and thriller novel by Brian O’ Hare. The story revolves around mysterious murders that has to be solved by the Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan.
The story begins with the murder of a Judge, which is to be investigated by the Chief Inspector Sheehan and his team. The Judge’s murder is followed by a series of murders which leave the officers confused. The killer is very smart who leaves no clue behind but, he writes a blog in the dark web about all his murders which is found by one of the team members. Now it is on the investigating team to locate the criminal. So, will they be able to find the killer? If yes, then how? Well, this is for you to read in this thrilling book.
Though The Dark Web Murders is the fourth book in the series, you can easily follow it without having read the previous books. This book stands on its own. It is nearly 300 pages divided into 39 chapters, which I think is great because, writing a mysterious novel that keeps you engaged throughout, in just few pages, is difficult.
Crime and Thriller is one of my favourite genres, I have read many books, so I can strongly say that the author has done a phenomenal job with this book. The book is gripping from the beginning itself. The plot, the characters and the storyline is excellent. Every chapter left me wondering what would happen next. I love the character of Inspector Sheehan. His approach to solve the cases is novel and interesting. I especially appreciate the efforts made by the author to portray the character of the killer. The way he has designed the dark web blog is brilliant.
The only drawback that I have found in this book is that, it has too many characters that can be confusing. But the author has got us covered as, he gives an introductory information and abbreviations in the book which makes it a little easier to follow. However, going back to the first page every time is quite tedious.
I did not find any errors in the book and so I can say that the book is professionally edited. This book is now one of my favourites. So, I happily rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I do not have any strong reason to rate this any lower. I am looking forward to read the previous books of this series.
The book does contain profanity and obscene scenes. So I do not recommend this to kids. It is also not suitable for those who are sensitive to such contents as it can be evocative for them. But I highly recommend this to all the Crime/ Thriller/ Mystery fans who want to take a ride on this thrilling roller-coaster.
