[Following is a volunteer review of "Winners and Losers in words and cartoons" by Arthur Hartz.]

"We are great because we must be number one. We are miserable because we must be number one."

Winners and Losers in words and cartoons, written by Arthur Hartz, is a book of illustration that depicts how our society portrays winners and losers. In my opinion, the book is about our current society and its flawed way of thinking. The author shows us the irony of life and how we think winning will bring us all the happiness in the world, but more often than not, it makes us miserable.

What does it mean to win? Does winning mean bringing everyone down while you stay at the top? Does losing mean living a miserable life? These were questions I kept asking myself as I read the book. I believe that was the main goal of the author to cause readers to question their beliefs around winning and losing. I certainly questioned mine.

All in all, there was nothing to dislike about Winners and Losers in words and cartoons. I loved the illustrations included throughout the book, as they helped paint a better picture of the message the author was trying to convey. Also, I enjoyed the inclusion of famous quotes and the interesting spin the author put on them, which I found very amusing. Take the following quote, for example:

"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you lose money and power."

The one thing I liked most about the book was how the author depicted the bad attitude of our current society towards winning and losing. It felt like he was holding a mirror and showing the reader what it means to win or lose. Honestly, I didn't like what I saw, and I hope everyone can read this book and change their mindset. Winning is not everything, and losing is not the end. Most people must know this, but they don't.

Because of the aforementioned points, I gladly rate Winners and Losers in words and cartoons 4 out of 4 stars. I believe it was exceptionally edited, as I found no errors in it. I must commend the author for keeping his language clean and avoiding any form of vulgar language. As a result, I would recommend that everyone read this book. Also, if you want to enjoy a satirical look at our current society, then you should definitely read this book.

This is an interesting book on happiness. I have always thought of happiness as the bringer of joy in my life. I hope to read how this is not the case. thanks for the insightful review.
