[Following is a volunteer review of "Sandra Eden's War" by Michael Low.]
With an assignment to 'set Europe ablaze', a secret British organisation formed by Winston Churchill in 1940, dispatch one of their exceptional Special Operations Executive(SOE) agent to embark on a Mission of sabotaging the movements, Communications and activities of the Nazis around Normandy in anticipation for the invasion and liberation of occupied France. A mission she must successfully execute with immediate effect as She teams up with the French resistance fighters in the area.
Sandra Eden's War, by Mike Low, is a story that captures the grit, bravery, diligence and sacrifice of an SOE agent during World War ll as she risks everything for the freedom of humanity. It offers an insight into the significant role played by the French resistance in facilitating the allies rapid advance through France following the invasion of Normandy, the danger faced by SOE agents as they lived and carried out their operations behind the enemy line, the consequences of arrest, torture, imprisonment or death if caught and some tactics used by the spies and other underground armies as they waged secret war on the Germans.
This novel also shed's light on the manner SOE agents operates. They were often dropped by parachutes and uses a kind of suitcase radio to communicate and send messages to their headquarters, where they receive new instructions on what to do next and arrange for guns, explosives and other ammunition to be dropped.
The author's clear and concise writing style made this book really engaging and easy to comprehend. He was able to capture the tension created by Nazis as they occupied France. His ability to concentrate on the main plot of the novel really worked for me as too much description or introduction of too many characters would have been a distraction and probably, compromised the attention of the readers.
I love everything about this book, from the inception of events that kept me on the edge to the gracious ending as I didn't want the story to end. It was indeed an awesome read. I recommend this book to everyone out there who is a fan of "edge of your seat" thrillers, fiction lovers and history students as this book reveals a unique part of the World War II stories.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the author did a perfect job on the editing, content and narration. I didn't come across any error or profanity.
