[Following is a volunteer review of "Wisdom" by Arun mago.]
Have you ever read a provocative book and you immediately feel as if you want to take action? That one book that give you a positive dynamism and make you feel like a champion, yes, a winner! Wisdom is a non-fiction book of the author’s advices and thoughts. It revolves around various topics of our daily life. It shows us that our best teachers are our parents and that we need to respect them. In this book, Arun Mago has well-described in a mnemonic, the characteristics of a responsible person. His advices to the readers, is to be logical and not emotional which means that we should use our emotions, feelings and thoughts logically. The author urges the readers to be productive and not busy by planning the day in advance, based on priorities and always working toward the end result instead of doing many thinks at the same time and end up becoming busy. The author clarifies what beauty is, emphasizing that everything created by God are beautiful and that it is just we, human beings, that judges things as less attractive and ugly.
In addition, he highlights that we leave in an unhealthy environment by staying in a box which can be our houses, offices, cars as well as our phones and forget to connect with the nature along with its fresh air, beautiful birds among others. The readers will also be able to know the meaning of black money and how they can fight it. The author also offers a guidance on how to succeed in a job or in a business. Furthermore, he defines our cell phones as a true jail in which we enter intentionally and never want to come out and later shed light on how to become an effective speaker.
I love how the author splits and explain the acronym IRS which stands for Investment, Retirement and Savings. I enjoyed some of his short advice such as ‘‘keep failing until you succeed’’ or ‘‘when life throws you a lemon, make a lemonade’’ calling readers to find solution to their issues before they become unbearable. I also loved how he explained the word insensitive using his own life experience. I liked the way he calls on readers to value their mothers. I particularly agree on how he calls us to have organic thoughts by feeding our mind with the right things and prevent it from undue pressure and to have the power of ‘‘let it go’’ in order to feel free. Besides that, it was amazing how explained the differences between the poor and the rich.
Nevertheless, what I liked most, is how the author prepares the readers, not to take the topics personally, in case they don’t agree with him on one point or another but to just read for the sake of gaining knowledge and secondly, how he superbly uses mnemonics, to describe some words throughout the book. Meanwhile, my favorite topic was: ‘‘Work on your dreams, or else someone else will hire you to work on theirs’’ which was by itself, self-explained. The only disappointment about this book, is that true life experience were relatively few, which is a bad news for readers who enjoy real life examples.
I would recommend this book to all categories of age as it is quite short and no profanity or sexual contents was experienced from the start to the end. I would also recommend it to readers who are looking for an inspirational book. I’m happy to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as the book was professionally edited and for the reason that I didn’t see any significant error. In short, the book contains valuable lessons and at the end, as a reader, I felt the right energy and determination to accomplish my own dreams.
