Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter Liptak is a book containing over three hundred North American idioms. The idioms are well explained and properly arranged in an easy-to-read format. This book has numerous features which aid easy comprehension. Overall, it is a very useful tool for English language learners.

The twenty-five chapters of this book are arranged according to subject. Some of the subjects of interest in this book are going to school, telephone talk, weather conditions and so on. Chapter ten has the subject of housework. Therefore, in this chapter, we find idioms such as spring cleaning, upkeep, keep house and so on. This arrangement makes it really easy to locate idioms of interest and their meanings.

Due to the fact that most idioms have meanings that are completely different from the actual words used, it can be really challenging for foreign learners to understand their intended meaning. In an English environment, this can pose a real threat to social and economic status, and possibly to mental and emotional health. Really, no one likes to feel lost in the midst of friends and colleagues.

Peter Liptak has gone to great lengths to cover much of the idioms currently in use. But it's clear that there are still lots of idioms that have gone untouched in this volume. Therefore, I would advise learners to acquire all available volumes of this book. This will help them gain complete knowledge of American English idiomatic expressions. Since language is dynamic and hardly ever stagnant, I would expect a revision of this book every few years to prevent it from going obsolete.

Idioms add color and humor to speech. Its value cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, its mastery is a challenge that's worth every drop of sweat. Thanks to Peter Liptak, however, you won't have to waste too much of your sweat. Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter Liptak is an icebreaker. Studious learners can quickly catch up on strange idioms within a short period of studying this book.

The author of this book has done a great job of making the text simple to understand. The synonym of each idiom can be found immediately after its meaning. This is then followed by a fill in the blanks section which helps the learner to think and commit each idiom to memory. The answers to the blanks are also provided. I especially enjoyed the part where the idioms are made into a story. This book really lives up to its name. Its attack on idioms is vicious.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was well-written, properly proofread and easy to understand. It is an amazing book. Both advanced and intermediate students of English language would find this book to be a valuable resource.
