Tom Mclntyre is a husband and a father on the verge of losing everything. With his ever-mounting debt and his career on a downward spiral, he feels frustrated and unable to find a way out of this mess. But at least his wife Allison is supportive and understanding throughout this trying time. If she were to find out about his secret life, she would leave him for sure. Tom can’t bear the thought of losing her. Tom needs to change, and soon if he is to turn his life around.

Opportunity knocks in the form of a job offer, and things gradually begin to improve for him and his family. But just when everything seems to be on the rise tragedy strikes, Tom falls deeper into despair and turns to alcohol to deal with his grief. Can he find a way to repair his fractured family before it is too late?

The story deals with so many of life’s pitfalls, some of which we relate to as human beings. Although this book is a psychological crime thriller, I could not explain much about that aspect of the novel without giving away spoilers. However, I can say the story brings together the typical attributes you would expect from this style of category. Set in England, the story is told through multiple points of view and via different timelines. The characters felt genuine, some more likable than others. The author has exercised the utmost care in the editing process, as there were no errors to pinpoint. Fin C. Gray had me guessing right to the end, and I found myself reading late into the night to discover what would happen next.

My only criticism would be I struggled at first to keep up with the timelines. The chapters were clearly marked, but the paragraphs sometimes would close off in the current time-frame and then start up the following day without explanation. Frustrating at times as I had to go back and reread paragraphs to make sense of everything.

I would highly recommend this book and thoroughly enjoyed losing myself within its pages. Duplicity by Fin C. Gray deserves a well-earned 4 out of 4 stars. The author has a fantastic eye for imagination, and the plot was uniquely refreshing. Although I would still only recommend it to mature audiences as the profanity was strong, but the erotic content was merely suggestive. If you enjoy fast-paced Psychological crime thrillers, then this is the book for you.

A man that was lucky enough to have a supportive wife, and he still keeps secrets from her. It is disappointing and depressing. I just hope the vice he is addicted to is more important than the love he shared with his wife? Nice review
