Would not it be crazy to have at least one superpower? Imagine having two or three, or just being able to develop superpowers. I know it sounds amazing, right? Now, imagine being killed just because you have those powers.

People who have superpowers are known as evolutionites, in Timothy Callahan’s The Evolutionite Chronicles Book One: Dagger and Shadow Ninja. The story begins when two evolutionite brothers, Dagger and Shadow Ninja, are hired by a lawyer to be his bodyguards and to investigate the suspicious murder of a woman he knew. During the investigation, the two brothers who are determined to protect Haven-an American city filled to the brim with evolutionites-chance upon suspected criminals, billionaires, time-travelers, Protectors(the police force of Haven), countless villains, and a little human mastermind called Globe.

Shifting to the other aspects of the book, it is a sci-fi and fantasy book, with an interesting plot that is suspense-filled. There isn’t much that I did not like about the book. It has some grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. And time travel, which is a major part of the book, can also get confusing. Ironically enough, time travel also confuses some of the characters in the book. And as it goes, mutual confusion always makes one feel better than solitary confusion. However, the author does manage to explain the very important aspects of time travel. So, this isn’t an entirely negative aspect of the book, but at some point, adds to the humor of the book.

Moving to the strong aspects of the book, I love how it is action-packed from the beginning, so it grabs the reader by the throat, so to say. And the author does not lose the pace of the book as it goes on. It is written across multiple first-person perspectives, which allows the reader to get to know the characters well. The characters have distinct personalities, they are well-developed, and they are quite relatable. It has a lot of humor and dialogue injected across the short chapters of the book, which makes it an enjoyable read. This one of those books that don’t let you rest. It is bursting with unexpected twists, and just when you think the book is over, another wild twist is thrown in, which leads you to another roller-coaster ride.

I enjoyed this book, and I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. I would jump at the opportunity to give it a perfect rating, but I cannot because of the different errors. It is an amazing book that has only one minor use of a profane word and contains no sexual scenes at all. It is not religious and does not support or oppose any belief system. And I would gladly recommend it to action, fantasy, and sci-fi lovers.

A truly fascinating tale about superpowers and time travel! I loved that they incorporated the characters confusion about time travel to add a bit of humour into the mix. Pity about the errors though. Thank you for the informative and detailed review! Happy reading :techie-studyinggray:

The book seems really close to the The X-Men Series; Globe reminds me of Professor X. The review is really detailed. Good job!

I'm not too much into fantasy or sci-fi novels so I think I'll skip The Evolutionite Chronicles Book One: Dagger and Shadow Ninja, but I enjoyed reading your review. Thank you!
