According to the book, We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko, written by Matthew Tysz, there exists two worlds. Apart from the Cosmos, there is a magical world called Caromentis. The city of Virko in Voulhire boasts of its industrious prosperity under the rule of Lord Venden Hrelek. Those in Caromentis are developing an interest in this Cosmos city and will do anything to take control of it. With all this unfolding, Galen, the protagonist who is new to Voulhire, gets caught up in the middle of it.

I liked that mysteries that had been kept away from the public eye in the city of Virko accidentally get unraveled by a monk who happened to be on a short business-related assignment in Virko. This discovery and after-effect of its repercussion, change the outlook of the city of Virko.

I did not like that Demetrius, the monk, kept encountering blocks in his endeavour to accomplish whatever he set up as his plans. This kept slowing him down when he needed to move fast. This made me imagine him watching his back every now and then.

This book falls in the science-fiction/fantasy genre. This book is written in the first and second-person perspective. It comprises of 153 pages with each chapter identified by the name of the character being referred to in that particular chapter. I liked this author’s writing style which consists of very short paragraphs. This made the book a quick read. The formatting of this book is good. I was led to believe that this book was professionally edited when I did not come across any glaring errors that would take away from the plot. I rate this awesome book 4 out of 4 stars. A lower rating would not give a true picture of how I felt about this book.

Having read the first book in this series, the story flowed as I read this second one. I recommend that the first book be read before this one because it introduces the main character, Galen, and gives his backstory for ease of understanding the rest of the books in the series. I recommend this book to young adults who will find Galen relatable. I also recommend this book to adults who enjoy reading about magic. Those who would like a quick read will enjoy this book. This book has mild gore. I did not come across any profanity leading me to draw the conclusion that it is not offensive and can be read by all.
