Insightful and mind-opening. Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer’s Guide by William H. Coles has given the readers an insightful and fresh take on how to improve fiction stories. Through the book, Coles has given essential guidelines on how to establish literary works.

A great number of published books in recent times are comprised of literary fiction. This literary fiction has a variety of sub-genres such as historical fiction, scientific fiction, and many more. Furthermore, there has also a great surge location that encourages writers and want-to-be writers an opportunity to publish their own works for others to see and -hopefully-enjoy. With this, the book has purchased a guide on how to improve and even cement the foundation of the work that writers are trying hard to give their best for their readers.

The book is divide into two sections. The first discusses the various factors to consider for writing a fictional literary story while the second tackles the aftermath of establishing the story. The book has discussed each and every fundamental element with great insight and guides on how to best deliver a narrative for the readers’ maximum enjoyment. Moreover, the book has provided varying examples to further illustrate the discussion at hand and to give a glimpse of the ideal setups of writing.

While the book may primarily target fictional writers, as it is stated in the title itself, it can also be beneficial for other writers as it still imparts genuine ideas and comments on writing as a whole. In addition to this, the book can also provide insight for others within the literary industry such as editors, publishers, and the like as it can point out points for improvement in books and literary works.

Over-all the book deserves 4 out of 4 stars with the knowledge and insight the author and the book, itself have provided.
