Review by Paulson47 -- We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko
Virko, under its founder, Lord Venden Hrelek, was wealthy and successful. The industries and businesses were the true essences of their lives. Within a world full of conspiracies and scary battles, where mages, humans and demons exist, can Virko survive? The second book of We are Voulhire series, We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko is the story of Virko, authored by Matthew Tysz.
Autumn came early to the oaks of the Virkenwood. But will it matter when there’s a helpless woman getting undressed forcefully by three men? Among the screams will it matter whether the leaves are falling or not, and their colour change? Cornelius, who was being arrogant and rude, was stopped by his old friend, Folcro. The story begins. Lord Venden, who is resting in his manor Rendenhide, is seriously ill. Finally, the thoughts took form into discussions. The strategies and schemes for the position of next Lord of Virko were already in existence. Magnum Caelum has no iron reserves of its own. To address this issue, Demetrius, Rowan, and Galen were sent to the Lord Venden, recommended by a friend of Demetrius, Lord Kayden.
Rendenhide has darkness, hidden deep, somewhere within its loneliness. Worried about his son Folcro, Lord Venden asks them to take care of this issue. Can they rewrite the fate of Virko? Riva Rohavi has already returned, and the ruined Hillport is just a beginning. The monstrous Meldorath is still out there. Is everything going to be fine?
I like everything in this book, and there’s nothing I dislike here. It is an eloquently written book of genre fiction. From the beginning to the end, this book lives upto the expectations. I had an amazing experience. The plot is such a complex one, but it’s easy to follow. It has a good cast and story. There were parts which were scary, mysterious, and very likeable. I felt like watching a movie. The buildings, appearance of the characters, and the situations were presented well. Everything was lively and seemed very real. It makes me eager to read the next book of this series.
My favourite character is Galen. He is a refugee from the Lands of the Princes. Galen is a compassionate, humble, considerate, and a good person. I couldn’t find any bad quality in him. Whenever I met him in this story, I felt a warmth that made me relax from the scary events of other parts. I also like King Wilhelm. He is very concerned about his Kingdom and its people. They were his priority. His character was touching. The other part that I like, is the interactive session between the Eiodi and the kids.
The author is a very talented person. I already read the first book in this series. He succeeded in maintaining the same quality in this book. I like the way he presented the relationships between characters. It was touching. The way he presented the helpless people of Hillport melted my heart. There were mysterious events, scary fights, and a lot of breath-taking moments. I enjoyed reading it. Honestly, I didn’t skip even a word, and I felt so absorbed in this story.
The story isn’t very long. But the content worth the length. It was an easy read. I like the title very much. It is very catchy, and it hints the suspenseful story ahead. I highly recommend this to everyone who loves fiction. I suggest to read the first book in this series, to understand the plot and story well. This book alone isn’t sufficient to reveal the whole plot.
I am glad to say that I didn’t come across any errors and erotic scenes. There was a minor profanity seen. I think its professionally edited. It has an excellent storyline. The detailed observations, along with the slow but appropriate character development made this story gripping. The author provided a visual experience through words. I’m amazed enough to say that this book is fascinating. So, I’m rating it 4 out of 4. It is a very good read. Go for it. You won’t be able to put the book down.
